Hi All,
Eli here with another quick update for you. We are painfully close to being 100% complete with the film! This final stretch is in many ways the hardest, because the film has taken shape and we just want to share it with everyone already. However, we are taking the time to finish things up right, as we have with every step of the process. I want to reiterate how appreciative I am with how patient and supportive all the backers have been. I never expected this short film to have a yearlong journey through post, but then again, I never thought I would be fortunate enough to make this very personal and unique film in the first place. Another big thank you to everyone who donated and/or helped spread the word.
So, what’s next? When can you expect to see the film and receive your rewards?
While the film will be complete in a matter of weeks, it will take a little longer to get the rewards out. We still have quite a bit of work to do to master the project and produce DVDs/Blu-Rays. We are also deep in the process of submitting to festivals all over the world. Stay tuned for some big announcements, as well as the launch of our official website where we will premiere the trailer (backers will get an early sneak peak). With the holidays, I think it’s realistic to say that the film will be delivering after the first of the year.
Below, I have uploaded a near-complete shot of Henri from the film. The video quality isn't the best, but it at least gives you a glimpse of the beautiful work the effects guys have done. The hope is that you believe in Henri as a character and forget the effects. Let me know if you have any questions, comments, or concerns.
Best,
Eli

Hi All,
Update number 24! We are about halfway done with all the visual effects, and they are looking fantastic. I don't have a final completion date yet, because there are always bumps in the road, but we are pushing to be done in time for numerous festivals.
There were many influences for the story of HENRI 2.0, including classic sci-fi novels by Philip K. Dick, Isaac Asimov, and others. In terms of movies, I was hugely inspired by science fiction films from the 60's and 70's -- especially Silent Running. The decision to utilize models and in-camera effects grew from my love of these films, and their storytelling techniques. Despite an updated style, HENRI 2.0 is a 70's sci-fi flick at heart. So, I thought it would be fun to produce a retro-style movie poster for HENRI, to embrace and honor the history of films that preceded it.
The poster below is the result. Very special thanks to Craig Sellars for painting this fantastic image. Craig also produced most of our pre-production artwork, which many backers will receive prints of. Hope you enjoy the poster. Let us know what you think. More updates to come, including an official website and trailer announcement. Thank you all for your patience and support.
Best,
Eli

Hi All,
Update twenty-three! We have been talking a lot about visual effects recently (which are looking fantastic -- see the still image below), but this post is about another extremely important part of post-production - the score. I am happy to announce that the very talented composer Kevin Riepl (http://www.kevinriepl.com/wordpress/index.php) has signed on to do our music. He is well over halfway done, and I couldn't be more thrilled with the result.
I have included a rough mix of a section of the score below. This piece accompanies the build sequence, where Henri is pieced together from scrap parts of the ship. Listen loud, and enjoy.
Best,
Eli

Wow, that's incredible! Any thoughts on making the soundtrack available as well?

I don't see the link for listening to the score that you talked about. I did go to Kevin's website. His work will be perfect for this story. But I can't find the "rough mix of a section of the score below."

Hi All,
Update twenty-two! We are at a very exciting time in the process. All the different elements are finally coming together, and the film is starting to take shape. Sound design, visual effects, and color are all mixing for the first time, and the result is hugely satisfying from a creative standpoint. The difference between the offline edit and the final, full-resolution image is incredible.
Below is another short reference animation - this time of Henri walking. The clip is in the rough animation phase, which means it isn't lit or rendered, but it will give you a feel for Henri's character. This is early on in his existence as a robot, so he isn't quite accustomed to his body yet. Enjoy.
We are still on track for a late September / early October finish. I can't say it enough -- thank you all again for your patience, understanding, and generous support. Not too much longer now.
Best,
Eli

Hi All,
Update number twenty! Here is a quick animation test we did to see what kind of subtle emotion we could get out of our cg Henri. The clip is in the rough animation phase, which means it isn't lit or rendered. The final version is completely photo-real, but I'm saving it for the film (can't spoil everything). Hope everyone is doing well. I'll be back with more updates soon.
Best,
Eli

Anything worth doing is worth doing well. You know that and are demonstrating it. I already care about Henri. Amazing.
Hauntingly beautiful. Really looking forward to the finished film. Even though this has taken longer than you figured I still feel it will be well worth the wait.
Eli - A wonderful creative process underway, and nearing completion. Keep up the good work. Encourage those who are so ably assisting.
It will be great!!
