Posted project update #9Send me your addresses if you haven't already!!!
Post CommentHey Friends!!!
The cans of sockeye salmon should be arriving sometime next week which means we can start sending out gifts to everyone!!
Some of you have sent me your address (THANK YOU) but the majority of you have not.
Please email hoonahsheroes@gmail.com with your snail mail addresses so you can get your gifts!
Try to shoot me an email by Monday 9/27. That would be awesome!!!
Thanks so much!
Oh and if you know anyone else who would like to donate or someone who just needs a tax write off, please send them to my fiscal sponsor site (Women Make Movies) below and scroll down to Hoonah's Heroes. I need to start raising money for post production, FAST.
Thanks again for making this happen!!

Posted project update #8We're Back + Thank You !!!! + Behind the Scenes
Post CommentWe're back! Thank you so much for funding Hoonah's Heroes and making it possible to capture these truly incredible stories. The project has turned out to be so much more -- complicated, moving, emotional, powerful -- than we ever could have imagined.
21 days, 18 interviews, 63 hours of footage
We are exhausted and exhilarated!
Next Steps:
Step 1: Edit, Edit, Edit
Step 2: Fundraise, Fundraise, Fundraise
Step 3: RepeatIn the meantime...
Behind the Scenes Antics: http://vimeo.com/14946049
Filmmaker Caveat: These were taken on a little Flip camera; the real interview footage is shot on Sam's beloved Panasonic and is not all weird and wobbly, fear not!
Actually, we've got a bunch of videos here: http://vimeo.com/user4594662/videos
Sort them by "oldest", and you can see how things progressed. Personal favorite, of course, is the homage to Paris is Burning (Video #10), which has nothing to do with the documentary, but makes us happy every time we watch it.VERY IMPORTANT -- Send us your address! (hoonahsheroes@gmail.com)
A million thank yous for making this project possible. You are the best looking and wittiest group of kickstarters that ever were.
Love,
Samantha, Matt and Christie

Posted project update #7Amazing
Post CommentThis is Matt posting for Sam.
I got back from 10 days in Juneau and Hoonah last Saturday after shooting more than 26 hours of footage. It was simply amazing and I hear from Sam and Christie, who are still there, that they continue to get even more great stuff like a Tlingit ceremony with dancing and songs at ANB Hall, and a 6 hour interview with one of the island's prominent veterans.
Here are some of my pics. Enjoy. Sam will resume posts when she gets a proper internet connection.

Hey Colin, We have TONS of photos we want to post. Hoonah doesn't have a lot of places to get on the internet. We've been going to the library but for the next few days we are slammed with interviews and their hours don't correspond with our time off. We will be posting photos very soon so keep a look out! Thanks, Col!
