    36 hours

    Hi folks,

We've got 36 hours left on the Kickstarter fund raising cycle and we just wanted to thank all of you who have taken the time to learn about our project and taken that extra step to help us reach our goal. Whether or not we reach the goal, it's great to know as we move forward that we have many supporters like you.

    Thanks!

    It's Green!

Thanks again folks for all the pledges, we've got 12 days left and we're about half way there! For those who are considering making a pledge, any amount can help us reach our goal. Erecting a sign at this remote spot is going to take a lot of resources and all of the funds we raise here will be used to make this installation happen.

Earthbound Moon member, Lee, sent along the photo below on his visit last week to the installation site. It's so lush and green! A huge difference from when we visited in early spring of this year. Lee went to check out the installation site again, meet more of the folks in Bledsoe and visit Texas Tech. We're excited to say that Heidi and Earthbound Moon will be giving a lecture at Texas Tech on September 16, during the installation of Heidi's sign. For more about Lee's visit to the site and other Texas spots, check out the Earthbound Moon blog: www.earthboundmoon.blogspot.com

At the moment, Lee and Carson are making their way through the Pacific Northwest, with the future of Earthbound Moon on their minds. They're meeting with a lawyer to discuss our own non-profit status and to scout out possible locations and artists in Tacoma and Oregon.

Thanks again, stay tuned, more soon.....!

    Gathering the Parts

We just picked up the two faces of the Heidi's Welcome sign after being plasma cut. It's exciting to see the first tangible parts of the project!

Many thanks to those that have already donated to the project. We have a ways to go, but we're sure that we'll get there due to your generosity. Thanks! More soon!

    Honoring You

Thanks to everyone who has pledged so far and to those helping us spread the word about the project. We're getting excited about the progress!

When the sign is installed we will also be putting in an informational plaque that will include information about the sculpture, about Earthbound Moon and will include a list of all the backers who helped make this project possible, regardless of amount pledged.

    More info soon!

    Design Plan Into Action!

A vector file for the sign has just been passed along to EbM member Carson Murdach, who is helping to over see the fabrication of Heidi's sign. The first step will be to have the word "Welcome" cut into 2 plates 18 gauge steel using a plasma cutter. This should be happening in the next couple weeks. We'll post photos of the progress. It feels early to be doing so much prep, but there's so much to do!

    The Property

We thought we'd share s'more images of the property where the installation will happen. This first image is a satellite image of the area. At the center top of the image is the town of Bledose. If you follow the road the leaves town toward the bottom left you will see a small red rectangle to the right of the road: that's where the sign is going to go.

The second photo was taken from on the property. Yikes! We didn't expect so much sand! The earth there is mostly reddish brown sand covered on small scrub oaks (still bare since this photo was taken in early April). It's hard to believe so much farming has happened out in this area in the past. Although Bledsoe, just after getting established was part of the dust bowl. When we go in September most everything should be green.

    Great News from Heidi!

Heidi has just let us know that the Danish Arts Council will be giving us two small grants to help fund this project. Yay, Heidi! Even with these generous grants, we still need your help reaching our goal. We're just about to start fabrication of the sign, so updates and images coming soon!

Thanks for checking in and thanks for your help!
