Hey Nancy, Geesh ... We are rocking and rolling. Our attention has been split between three main areas: - Storyboarding and story revision; literally rewriting the story as much as possible before we start committing funds to production art and sound. - Concurrent with this, a great deal of prototyping on ways of interacting with the art and sound. - Legal purgatory: turns out that it's a little more complicated than we initially thought to craft profit sharing agreements, etc. We see the light at the end of the tunnel here. We've reached script lock for the first chapter and are currently laying out the storyboards. Once some of the sequences are finished, we will post some teasers. All of the tools for making the actual game are polished and the next hurdle is really delving into the art style as we prepare to make the production art push.

Posted project update #6The Sleeper Rises!
Sleepers,
$15,940.
This came from you.
Amazing.
More than any project I have written over the past six years, the Last Sleeper burns with a hotter fire than anything I have ever worked on.
And because of this, to receive so much support for it is extremely gratifying. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
These funds allow me to push the production of the Last Sleeper into overdrive. We can - and will - craft this amazing experience. It will fulfill its promise.
Adamah v'a Mith'ra.
Asteria Fe'ra Isha.
The Sleeper Rises!
Onward,
Kendall

Posted project update #5Into the Light...
Post CommentLight - it's the only force that can turn away the Shadow of Ephos. And it sounds beautiful. Here are more sounds by the amazing sound artist Erik Aadahl (turn the headphones UP!):
This has been an amazing month - and a special one. When I made the Kickstarter, we had been kicked in the teeth in more than a few ways. Months spent with different publishers, only to find unsavory terms or that the people on the other end of the deals weren't honest about what they could do.
And now the Sleeper rises, on the wings of your grace, kindness, and belief.
In many ways, this parallels the journey of Adam on Ephos. In a hostile planet, with no one to call friend, he discovers a connection. While it is a tiny ember, it becomes an inferno so hot that an entire planet is changed by one man.
On this final day of the Kickstarter, I have but one request: share away. Spread the Light.

Posted project update #4Darkness
Post CommentThe Last Sleeper is a work defined by the elemental conflict between Light and Shadow.
The Shadow has ripped away the life of the beautiful planet Ephos. It is an instrument of control and subjugation.
The Shadow is a fearsome foe. It is heralded by a vicious villain - a monstrous Tiger named Aku.
The Shadow has a few thematic motifs that reinforce the relationship and enmity between these two forces. These occur visually and sonically. Here is one of the early audio ideas behind the Shadow.
We call it "Darkness."
When Erik Aadahl first showed me this it blew my mind.
Put your headphones on, close your eyes, and crank it up!

Posted project update #3Interactive Cinematic Teaser
Post CommentSleepers,
First and foremost, a great and sincere thank you. The response to this Kickstarter has exceeded what I thought possible.
We're almost done - but not yet. We have five days left - continue to spread the word. Especially the content of this update.
I had thought I would post an interview with some of the team...but as I was editing, I thought - "I'm already on Kickstarter talking for 3 minutes!" Talk is cheap.
Instead, what I would like to show you is a very early look at how the interactive cinematic sequences for the Last Sleeper develop. There's more to the clip, but I don't want to give away exactly what happens in the story.
We use these types of sequences to rapidly bring the words on the script page to life - to see if there's validity in the ideas and if it can create an emotional connection. This is the first one that took off.
Enjoy!

Posted project update #2Crossing the Threshold
Post CommentSleepers -
A few days ago we crossed the $10,000 mark!
This is truly a great accomplishment. We blasted through the barrier in just under ten days. Thank you to all who have demonstrated faith in the Last Sleeper. From the bottom of my heart, this means a great deal to me.
We have two weeks left: please continue to spread the word about our humble project.
We're also starting to get the word out. Twitter was ablaze yesterday with tweets about "The Last Sleeper." When you Google "The Last Sleeper," this Kickstarter page is the first thing that you find.
None of this would be possible without your support.
We'll be posting a few videos and some interviews with the team in the coming week.
The Sleeper will Rise.
Onward,
Kendall
