Posted project update #10It worked. Now let's rock.
Post CommentFriends,
We released our third album 'Exile' in October, received rave reviews, traveled the country far and wide playing 50 stages and now we're back home and ready to celebrate. We're throwing a big homecoming bash at the Lizard Lounge in Cambridge, MA this Saturday, January 29th. You can find more info here: www.allthingsaloud.com/performances including how to buy tickets. Seriously, thank you so much for being a part of this and making it happen. We've got a very special show planned for you and can't wait to thank you in person.
Not in Boston? No worries. We're hitting the road in two weeks to travel all around this country again including a stop at SXSW. Thanks for your support and your smiles.
Cheers,
Jen

Posted project update #9We've met our goal! + Exile tour dates + Going to the dogs?
Post CommentThank you all so much! We've met and exceeded our goal! We're very overwhelmed and extremely grateful. Going the fan-funding route was a very new thing for us, and you guys proved that it can work. Hitting our goal is a small victory for eliminating the dreaded middleman. Backers: go ahead and pat yourselves on the back. Get yourselves a few scoops of ice cream you've been holding out on. Sure, it's 9am, but you've more than earned it; you're an adult, you're allowed to eat ice cream in the morning. We'll be sending out love letters and such soon.
Now, I'll be honest. The short video below was filmed before we hit our goal, so a few, er... adjustments had to be made in post-production. Rest assured Zack was in no real danger; a copy of Twilight was close by, ensuring that everyone present at the shoot would lose their appetite.
Below are the tour dates for the fall leg of the Exile tour! Some dates are subject to change, yadda yadda, but if you see your city not listed here or want to recommend a venue or a band to play with, please let us know! Shoot a message over to aloud@allthingsaloud.com.
All right, all. Thanks again. You're all stars. :)
Henry

Wow, that was a really great song. If the rest of the album is on par with the two songs I've heard so far, it's going to be amazing. :)

Posted project update #3Behind the scenes: Strings n' things - "A Line of Lights" and "To Die at Sea"
Post CommentHey hey hey...
This week's news in the Land of Awesome is that Exile has been mastered. We headed down to Peerless Mastering in Newton with Dan to meet up with Jeff Lipton and put the final touches on the record. We had a really good time working with Jeff again, and—much like the last time—were laughing a mile a minute. A few random pics from the session are included below. (Not included are pictures we took on assistant engineer Maria Rice's phone while she wasn't looking... sorry, Maria!)
We hope to post a couple of tracks exclusive to backers very soon, along with acoustic performances of some of the new songs.
But until then, here's another video from our Studio Journal. This was from a session on February 20, 2010 to add strings on two tracks ("A Line of Lights" and "To Die at Sea"). Our friend Beth Holub came by to put down viola and violin on the tracks. She brought along cellist Josh Penslar, and violinist Veronica Dicker.
Boston, don't forget: our record release show for Exile is on Thursday, September 23 at Church of Boston. A pledge of $20 will also get you half-price tickets for this (as well as all the other stuff listed). Seriously, if you were planning on going (and you were, right?), this will save you money. Get on that!
To everyone else—as always—thank you for backing us and spreading the word. Because of you we're currently close to hitting the $1500 mark and have very warm, fuzzy feelings when we think of you. :)
Be well,
Henry -

Posted project update #2Boston album release show + behind the scenes video: "Old Soldier"
Post CommentHello everyone! So far, we're inching very close to raising $1,000. Thank you so much for your generosity and for telling all your friends. We've still got a ways to go, and because of the way Kickstarter is structured the funding will not go through unless we hit 100% of our goal by August 9th. So keep telling everyone you know! Twice!
I'm very happy to announce the Boston release show for Exile! Mark your calendars for September 23, 2010 at Church of Boston. Our friends St. Claire will be sharing the bill with us, as well as another band to be announced.
Pledging $20—if you haven't already done so—will get you half-price tickets to the Boston release show as well as a copy of Exile, a copy of another Aloud album of your choosing or a t-shirt, and entry for you and a friend to the Exile listening party... (*cough cough*... it's a good deal... just sayin').
The vid below, culled from our studio journal on YouTube, was from a session on September 27, 2009. Our friend Matthew Girard popped by to dub some bass, trumpets, and a euphonium on a track called "Old Soldier". If you're wondering, "What the hell is a euphonium?" then all will be revealed in the video.
Thanks for making this thing happen, everyone.
Yours,
Henry
