Posted project update #8Fundraising unsuccessful-for now
Post CommentWell, we've reached our end point. We didn't reach our goal but are still confident we will find a way to get this movie made. Thanks again for your support and we will keep you updated on our progress.
Quick reminder-since we didn't reach our goal the pledges have now been returned to you.
Thanks again

Posted project update #7coming to a close
Post CommentWell, barring a miracle, it looks like we won't reach our goal. But we aren't giving up. This simply means we cannot make the film this summer as originally planned. However, the film will be made. We might try another fundraising effort at some point and if we do, trust us, we'll let you know. We still want to express our gratitude for your generosity and support. It means a ton.
To clear up any confusion, we do not keep any of your donations through kickstarter. It comes back to you since we have not raised the full $50,000 (No need to offer to send us the money anyway. No guarantees Eric won't waste it. And Eli just bought a house. The money might be used for awnings. Not really your intended purpose in giving). Again, we might be trying another fundraiser in the future and if you feel like donating at that time, we'd be happy to accept it.
All our best,
Eli & Eric -

Posted project update #6Two weeks to go!
Post CommentThanks to Kristy's generosity, we're now at 20 backers. Still a large mountain to climb, but we're not giving up.
And we promise, if we don't make it, that doesn't mean the movie won't be made. It just means we're going to have to find other avenues.
Thanks again to you all,

Posted project update #5Over $7500, looking for backer #20
Post CommentThanks to some very generous contributions we're now over $7500. As you're well aware, we don't have much time left (21 days) and still have quite a ways to go before we reach our goal. So any emails or social media posts you can muster would be greatly appreciated. We have a daunting task, but we're not giving up yet.
Again, we want to express our gratitude for your generosity and support. It's very humbling and keeps us energized and working towards getting this movie made!
Best,

Posted project update #4Filmmaker Magazine Blog
Post CommentOne more little update. We were mentioned in Filmmaker Magazine's blog a couple of weeks ago (though I didn't see it until now). It's small, and essentially uses us as an example of the difficulty in raising money in the independent sector for a film about faith that isn't faith based. Uh, thanks. Nothing we don't know already, and nice to have the word getting out through a magazine stacked on my coffee table as we speak.

Posted project update #3One month to go
Post CommentWe have 31 days left in our fundraising drive. We're getting closer, but still have a long way to go. We cannot thank you guys enough for your support. Again, word of mouth is our best tool for raising money, so if you can help us spread the word via social networks, email, and old-fashioned word of mouth it would help even more. If you know of organizations, groups, or individuals who might be interested that we should contact, do not hesitate to drop us a line at themoviefaith@gmail.com. We are trying outreach with several different churches, blogs, and websites. The more the merrier!
We are determined to get this film made and couldn't do it without your support.
Best,
The Faith Team. -

Larian- While I appreciate your passion, I'd also ask you to be civil. Now, our film most certainly does not argue that prayer or belief in God is the "correct" thing to do in times of crisis. In fact, it calls this into question. The film tells two stories: one about someone disavowing his Faith in times of crisis, another about a woman being pulled back toward Faith in a time of crisis. And neither one, as the film presents it, is seen as more right or wrong. They are both only seen as making human choices. We appreciate your passion, but I would encourage you to try and understand what we're after before making judgements about the film. And the director, having grown up a fundamentalist and rejected most of the literalist perspective, is confident of his perspective and its logic.

Posted project update #2Getting closer to $7000
Post CommentWe're within reach of $7000 and just wanted to thank each and every one of you. We are doing some outreach with local churches and spiritual centers to try and garner more support. Also, we are close to bringing on another producer.
As always, you can help with word-of-mouth, simply by telling others about what we're trying to do and sending them to our facebook and kickstarter pages.
We can't thank you enough for helping us get this film made and know that your support keeps our spirits buoyed and our determination strong!
