The coloring is viivd without being too much boldness to it.... the attention to detail is perfect, with neither too much or to little detail given. its subtleties give it power that draws a person in with the perfect allure.

Our Ink-Splattered Virtuoso is Interviewed by our Glittery Sponsor Copic Marker

    Hey secret loves,

It's been a big week that we've spent on designing the cover layout, designing the acknowledgment page and letting poor Allison embrace a moment of peace - only to be plucked by our fantastic sponsors the Copic Marker team and interviewed about her process. There's really a lot A LOT that goes into each page of work (spoiler alert: she treats each panel like an individual artwork) and she uses many different tools to create the ambiance for Apricot Asylum.

If you're interested, you can go enjoy a piece of Allison's leftermost brain, and check out the link right here: http://www.copicmarker.com/artist-interview-with-allison-strom

    Love,

RocoCookie Shop Promo Ad - Done in Copic Markers

    Hey punks and punkettes,

I'm proud to say that we are finally finished with the coloring! We still have a bit of a ways to go - Allison will now be handlettering the text and then the production of the book will begin, but we ARE moving along.

If anyone here had contributed to my very first Kickstarter project - Recipes for the Dead: Dark Delight with Cranberries - you might remember that we had a vote for Veronica's bakery. The winning name was RocoCookie Shop. To finally award those generous voters, as well as everyone else for their superhuman patience, Allison drew an extra pinup - Veronica's RocoCookie Shop Promo. This devastatingly detailed piece of comic craftsmanship would be something Veronica would use to advertise her adorable bakery.

I hope you guys enjoy this maddeningly gorgeous work!

    xoxo,

    V&A

5 Tips for Running a Comics Project

    Hey artmonsters,

Hope you're all having (or about to have) amazing holidays and enjoying adventures, as Allison and I continue to huff and puff through the comic (it's getting there...). In the meantime, the amazing folks at Kickstarter oh-so-nicely asked if I would mind writing an article with tips on running a comics project. I wheedled and weaseled out of it- well, who am I kidding? I practically pirouetted at getting the chance to help the awesome people who do so much for artists! So check out my 5 Tips on Running a Comics Project... and enjoy the blast from the past video from my second project!

    xoxo,

    V
