    The End is Nigh

If the tracking number from UPS is to be believed the Miskatonic University project will finally be wrapping up this week. The felt pennants are scheduled to arrive on Wednesday, only a week (he said sarcastically) after their already delayed second arrival date. That means the packages should start going out on Thursday in the order your pledges were made.

Again, I want to apologize for the delays. I really enjoy doing these projects, but it seems that the larger they get the more glitches they attract. While I appreciate your patience there has to be a better way of moving things through the pipeline within a reasonable timeframe.

    Project Update

After a far-too-long gestation the Miskatonic University Project is nearing completion.  The original end date was scheduled for 2/28, but because of complications with the felt pennant it looks like things will actually be wrapping up next week.  I want to thank all of you for your patience, and I can guarantee you'll be happy with the results.

Here's a look at the 1" brass and enamel lapel pin. I'll be posting more pictures of the finished items over the coming days.

    Moving along...

This may be a bit redundant, but now that your money is committed I want to keep you up to date on where things stand.

The pledge period ended successfully on Monday night. Processing the payments through Kickstarter and Amazon will take, by their estimate, approximately 14 days. That means I'll be receiving the funds around September 6th.

The production files for the already announced items (the embroidered patch, lapel pin, postcards, and notebook) are ready to be sent to their respective manufacturers as soon as the payment arrives. The only item I'm considering fiddling with is the notebook design, but that should be taken care of next week. I'm optimistically assuming a two week production time, so I should have everything in my hands the week of September 20th.

I have a couple of ideas for additional items I'd like to include and would appreciate your feedback on what you would like the most.

    - A custom printed patient file folder. File folders are difficult to produce at home without a straight-line, large format printer. Since I'm a teenaged geek at heart I get all giggly at the idea of assembling complete patient files for Lovecraft's protagonists.

    - Staff ID card. This would be a period accurate card (no lamination) with space for a photograph to be stapled or glued to it. Having this done by a professional printer would avoid the issues encountered trying to do accurate two-sided printing on a DIY basis.

Please chime in if there's anything else you would like.

I like the idea of a reasonably sturdy patient folder for keeping my group's player character sheets in... otherwise was there anything else such as embossed pencils or name tags , or a 20's style desk calender. I don't know what would be apprpriate to an American institution at that time. Would a, brass effect, key fob be appropriate for example ?

I would also like patient file folder - but please leave the name-field "open" and rewritable. Charles idea of a calendar is also nice - probably possible as a "neverending calendar" for the 20´s?

Maybe some eugenics records or a phrenology chart? Deplorable, yes, but would have been historically relevant in a 1920s era sanitarium. And given Lovecraft's views on degenerate families and people, it would fit in with the mythos. You can find some exemplars here: http://www.eugenicsarchive.org/eugenics/

    Counting down...

The project is fully funded and there are still four days to go.

All the materials needed to produce the already announced items, like layout files and graphics, are ready to be sent off to their respective manufacturers as soon as I receive the funding next week. I'm optimistically assuming a two week production time for everything, so the final packages should be going into the mail by September 15th. I'll keep you updated on any changes in that tentative schedule as production progresses.

Once again, I want to thank you for your support. Just in case you haven't been following the Propnomicon blog I wanted to mention that a variety of prop documents from the project are already available at:
