WE'RE GOING INTO THE STUDIO THIS WEEK!!!

YES! The day has FINALLY come! The studio time is booked, the team is assembled, and best of all, I get to use all of the Kickstarter money before the government can get their hands on it!

    Ha-HA!

But wait! It get's better! My very favorite person, JACK CONTE is going to be producing the album! (I'm going to just stop using exclamation points now. Please assume that every sentence is followed by a trail of exclamation points.)

So here's how it's gonna go down: I've written fifteen songs and we plan to record all of them in ten days at an incredible studio in Sonoma. We'll be working with a very talented and accomplished engineer, by the name of Oz Fritz. He's worked on numerous amazing records, including Tom Wait's Bone Machine AND Lauren O'Connell's upcoming album. The drummer is also one of Wait's go-to-guys. His name is Stephen Hodges, and he's got grooves that make the Grand Canyon look flat. Was that a lame thing to say? I feel like it was...

ANYhoo...The extraordinarily talented Ryan Lerman will be on electric guitar and other stringed instruments. You may recognize him from Pomplamoose's cover of Sandman. You may also have witnessed his great skills on stage if you've been to one of our live shows (or one of BEN FOLD'S live shows...) And David Piltch will be playing the upright bass. Aside from being a really cool guy, he is also k.d. lang's bassist and has played on a plethora of incredible albums (Sam Phillip's Boot and a Shoe is one of my personal favorites). There will also be strings, horns and organ on several of the songs, and we have some amazing people lined up for those as well.

So yeah...I'm pretty stoked about my band.

I'm also pretty stoked about the film crew that will be documenting the whole thing. Eric Kallevig will be directing the shoot with his cinematographer Mark Gamsey. They've got great cameras, lights and most importantly IDEAS that will make these VideoSongs stand out from anything I've ever done before.

There's more, but I think that's enough excitement for one day.

Oh wait. One more thing. Just because we're recording in December doesn't mean that the album will be out in January. There will be a period of post-production and video-editing once the tracking is finished, so I don't expect the album to be released until April...

The GOOD news is that I will have more time to fulfill the thousands of Kickstarter pledges, so if you pledged for a VideoSong cover, I'll be putting that up on YouTube before the album is released.

As always, you can contact me with questions or concerns by writing me a message on Kickstarter. If you're not following me on Twitter you should, because I'll be posting lots of updates and pictures during the recording process.

Thank you again to everyone for your patience and investment in this project. I can't believe that I'll be watching my dreams unfold THIS WEEK!!! There I go again with the exclamation points...I should quit while I'm ahead.

Still burgeoning with joy and gratitude, (yes, burgeoning is a strange word...)

    -Nataly

    October MADNESS!!!!

Gosh, it's been a while. I APOLOGIZE for the silence. I swear it's not because I've been skiing or shopping or contemplating my navel this whole time. I've been hard at work figuring out all of the logistics that will go into this album, AND I've been working on Pomplamoose related things as well.

We've got a busy month ahead. Next week I'll be heading to Nashville to meet with an incredible producer (and some other good music industry folk). The hope is that he will be producing my album early January, which will give me some time to get everything in order with the musicians and the studio and the SONGS most of all!

Sorry about all the secrecy. I am DYING to tell you the names of all the people I'll be recording with, but for dumb not-wanting-to-jinx-myself-reasons, I'm waiting until we've all made a blood pact, at which point there will be NO TURNING BACK.

As soon as I get back from Nashville, Jack and I will be jumping on a plane to AUSTRIA. What?!?! Yes. Austria. We'll be filming a stop-motion commercial there for a couple days. There will unfortunately be no time for gallivanting or sight seeing in Vienna, because we'll be flying straight back here to practice for our WEST COAST TOUR! From the 21st to the 29th we'll be playing LA, Santa Barbara, Seattle, Portland and San Francisco!!!

Ah, and lest I forget, before ANY of this happens, Pomplamoose will be releasing a new VideoSong this week.

So I just wanted to let you know, the reason I haven't been updating you is because A. I'm super busy with Pomplamoose stuff right now, and B. Nothing is set in stone for my album yet. That said, I believe that there will be many happy things to announce in the near post-October future (or maybe sooner if you're following me on twitter...)

    Still thinking of you,

    -Nataly

Seriously. You posted here 20 hours ago regarding your tour. I read about it 20 minutes ago, and you Seattle date is already sold out. Deep sigh. Have to admit, I said a bad word when I I saw that. Maybe next time. Can't wait for the new album!

I don't want to speak with the voice of all fans; but now I'm contemplating your navel.
But seriously, I don't think anyone feels abandoned, we know "recording a new record" is not without difficulty or time investment. We do love the update though. :D

    In shock.

You did this. You have changed my life forever. You have changed the course of HISTORY dammit! One HUNDRED...THOUSAND DOLLARS????

This is how it happened. Jack and I finished watching Parks and Recreation at 12:16, refreshed my kickstarter page, screamed (simultaneously) and then hugged each other like two giddy school girls. Since then, we've been mostly silent, inwardly contemplating the gravity of this enormous sum.

I can't believe it. I CAN, but I can't. One hundred thousand dollars. Yes, the future is bright, but right now...the present is as good as it gets.

    All my love and gratitude,

    -Nataly

    Yes it is!

I just released a new song on my youtube channel: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6Z7xceSLy4&feature=channel_video_title

It's Superman's Song, by the Crash Test Dummies - a request from one of my kickstarter backers! Well, two technically. THANK YOU MICHAEL AND CANDACE CLARKE!!!! (Coincidence that their last name is Clarke? I think not...)

So, enjoy, and thank you again for your overwhelming generosity! You have my word that I will make the BEST album that I can possibly make.

    Eternally grateful,

    EIGHTY THOUSAND!!!!!!!!!...with an EIGHT!!!!!

    That's $80,000 (in case I wasn't clear).

There are probably words that exist in the English language to express the gratitude that I'm feeling right now, but I can't seem to find any of them. All I can say is thank you, and that whatever becomes of me, I will owe it all to you. So please accept my enormous gratitude for all of your support, for your excessive generosity and for your kind words. I hope that I will have the pleasure of meeting each one of you someday.

In the meantime, here's something to look forward to: I will be releasing another videosong (for one of the people who pledged for a cover) within the next couple days. I've been working on it virtually non-stop over the past week and a half, and it's really different from anything I've ever released on my channel. I hope that you will like it even more than I have enjoyed making it.

ALSO, I hope to announce my plans for recording within the next couple weeks, so stay tuned for that.

Again, thank you so much for everything you do.

    All my love,

    -Nataly

    New Pomplamoose VideoSong posted!

To all of you who feared that my solo album implied the END of Pomplamoose, REST AT EASE!

We just posted a videosong (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uBJLAFTlGKg) which MEANS that I also just fulfilled my first kickstarter pledge!

Here's how it happened. Ron Weiner pledged for me to cover a song of his choice. He (half-joking) suggested one that he had written (you can see the original video at http://ronweiner.tumblr.com), a charming and very funny song inspired by a monster mask.

I loved it right away and decided to give it a go. No more than a few minutes after hearing me chug away at the organ, Jack INSISTED to be a part of the project. I reluctantly (but not really) agreed to embark on a Pomplamoose collaboration, and since then, neither of us have been able to get the damn song out of our heads.

I do however need to CLARIFY something, since I took on this song with Jack knowing very well that it might cause some confusion for people who ALSO want a Pomplamoose cover and not just a Nataly Dawn cover.

To those of you who are in that boat and are considering pledging, all I can promise you is my own hard work and dedication to the song of your choice. As for Jack...I can't promise I'll be able to woo him twice.

Thank you again for your support, and I hope you enjoy the song!

You can say that hard work, dedication, passion, talent, imagination, sense of humor, panache, and a great heart like yours provides us with the gift of your voice for all of us to enjoy. For me and I hope for others... that's all the thanks I need. Yet, if that is toooo corny, how about a song saying thank you in many languages! ¡Gracias! Grazie, Danke, Thanks, Spasibo... Crap too corny been there too... ok. I stick to first heartfelt submission. YAY FOR YOU!!!!! Don't lose that humor and uniqueness.
