Posted project update #8Printing Schedule
Hello everyone!
I finally have a printing schedule for the book. I had to go through a couple revisions with the printer. It was a real learning process, but they were very patient in working with me to make sure the files were correct and we both got what we needed from the other.
In the interest of transparency, below is the schedule exactly as I received it.
• Ozalids + Proofs send out from HK – 13 Oct 11
• Ozalids + Proofs rec'd by you in USA – 17 Oct 11
• Approved ozalids + proofs send out from USA – 18 Oct 11
• Approval ozalids + proofs rec'd by me in HK – 21 Oct 11
• Printed Sheets send out from HK – 02 Nov 11
• Printed Sheets rec'd by you in USA – 04 Nov 11
• Approval by email – 05 Nov 11
• Advance copies send out from HK – 15 Nov 11
• Advance copies rec'd by you in USA – 17 Nov 11
• Approval by email – 18 Nov 11
• Bulk Ex-Factory – 23 Nov 11Yeah, I struggle with "printer-ese," too. Bottom line: If everything goes according to plan, I'll have advance copies by November 17th and then I should have all the books in hand in early December, since bulk ex-factory is a worse case scenario on when the books will leave the factory in Hong Kong. Everyone should have their copies in time for Christmas. (What a lovely gift, eh?)
Again, thank you so much for your patience. If anything changes, I'll let you know.
Sincerely,
Jay Potts

December shipping? It'll be an awesome Christmas... in february :P. The post office here in Brazil is (in)famous for its delays during december.
Well, it is the price for the awesomeness that is WoH :D.

Posted project update #7WORLD OF HURT - "The Thrill-Seekers" Update
Greetings. I apologize for the long delay since my last update. I've been attending to some unforeseen family issues which de-railed my inital plans to have the book to the printer this summer. As some of you may know, my father passed away unexpectedly on June 25th and I have been helping my family with the immediate aftermath of this situation. Besides helping my mother, I have also have taken the responsibility of handling the personal and financial affairs for my father's mother, my grandmother. She lives out of state, so it requires some additional travel on my part. Needless to say, this entire situation has been rather all-consuming from an emotional, physical, and administrative standpoint. In dealing with these obligations, regrettably, I let my obligation to all of you slip, but I am glad to say that "The Thrill-Seekers" grapic novel will be going to the printers this week. I estimate that I will have the finished product by mid-October and I will ship everything out as soon as I receive them. Thank you very much for your patience and understanding. - Jay Potts-

Posted project update #4WORLD OF HURT: "The Thrill-Seekers" Graphic Novel
Post CommentHello!
Earlier this week, we finalized the contract with the printer. Their customer service has been fantastic. They've done a tremendous job in working with us to get the specs right in order to deliver the type of product that I had in mind. This may sound geeky, but what we're most excited about is how the cover should be a tactile and visual treat. Inspired by Jim Rugg's cover for his remarkable graphic novel, AFRODISIAC, I managed to negotiate a spot UV varnish at no additional cost. So where most of the cover will have a matte finish, the title itself will pop with a nice gloss finish. I also received the introduction by David Walker of BADAZZMOFO.com, which features his trademark humor and brutal candor. The files will go off to the printers around May 20th, so, fingers crossed, I should receive the books by mid-late June.
In the meantime, if you haven't gotten your sketch requests in, go ahead and send them in. Additionally, I'll be triple-checking the contributor credits before I send the book to the printer, so if you want to use a different name than the one you donated under, be sure to e-mail that to me at worldofhurtonline@yahoo.com under the subject heading, "You Can Call Me...," so I'll be sure to get it right.
If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to e-mail me. Thanks again and have a good weekend!
Sincerely,
Jay Potts

Robert, I've been thinking about shipping and you raise a good question. You've all invested a lot into this, so I want to make sure the final product not only looks fantastic, professional, and is the best it can be, but I want to make sure it arrives in pristine condition. All the printers' estimates include double-wall shipping, so they will be holding up their end in that regard. Once I receive them, at the very least, the books will be boxed and tightly bubble-wrapped, as the box will afford more protection than an envelope (even one of those tough Tyvek envelopes). Nonetheless, if you have any problems, please let me know as soon as possible, and I'll make it right. Thanks! Jay

congrats Jay! i love the format of the book, tall and skinny===great job!
I devoured my copy as soon as I got it. Great read Jay!
