Hi Vadim, Good luck with this project. I'm doing a similar project in Montana with beef. We need to get people closer to their food. Take care, Sam

Race vouchers for $50 and $100+ pledges

    Hi Backers,

Thanks for considering and/or making a pledge to support the Madison Marathon web project. This is just FYI for the backers who want to make a pledge in order to get a 50% off or 100% off voucher to run in the race. First off, the voucher can be transferred to anyone. Second, you will need to tell me who will receive the voucher so I can contact that person directly. I will need his/her email. Third, he or she should not sign up for the race on active.com which is how everyone else will be signing up. The active.com site has no provision to pay a lower fee and it also charges the user a fee for using the site. Whoever receives the voucher, should contact me by email (info@madcoedc.org) and I'll instruct them how to sign up for the race at a reduced or no cost. If you have any questions, just call me at 406-682-5923.

Thanks everyone!! We're going to have a great race. The buzz on the race is already pretty strong and we're four months away.

    Cheers,

    Sam Korsmoe

    Madison Marathon sign-ups now open

    Hey Backers,

Thanks for pledging to support the Madison Marathon. We are making good progress on reaching our goal and I have 100 percent confidence that we will raise $3,000 to build the website and have some left over to promote the race.

This is FYI either for yourselves and/or all your runnning friends. The Madison Marathon is open for sign ups. Just like the previous two years, we will be using active.com to sign up. Simply log onto www.active.com and then search for the Madison Marathon in Montana. There is also a marathon in Madison Wisconsin with the same name. Sign up is available for full, half and team marathons.

Sign up before it's too late.

Thanks and keep spreading the word about the Madison Marathon.

    Your laboring race director.

Hi Janeen, Seeing the post by Al, below, made me remember meeting some crazy German guy in China. Crazy in a cool way. A friend and I were cycling - or actually just beginning to cycle - across China when we ran across him. We first saw his bicycle which was some old kind of contraption with gears, but it looked like it would weigh a ton. There was a big milk crate on the front handlebars. In the middle section, there was a sheet of thin metal upon which was drawn the map of the world. There were numerous lines all across the map with the year that he apparently made that trip. Some of the "lines" were insane, such as from Prudhoe Bay Alaska to Anchorage. Or, from Cairo to straight south into Central Africa. He had already been to China when we were there (1989). I remember the saying on the map. It was something like "26 years, 142 countries, and still going strong." We met him later that day and had a bowl of noodles with him before he was taking off to head up the China coast from Guangzhou. He was a very normal looking guy - probably in his 50s with gray hair and a bit of a pot belly. After the noodles, he said something like, "Well, I better get going. He jumped on the bike and just took off." Weird. Anyway, thought I would share that little piece of info. When you know precisely your route, please let me know. You mentioned before that you may be coming through the Southwest Corner of Montana. If so, that's where the Madison Marathon is and where I live. Feel free to contact me for anything. Good luck getting your 2K. You've plenty of time. Have a good winter. Sam

Hi Janeen, This sounds like a fantastic project. I cycled across southern China and some in Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand as well as Taiwan. Now, I live in Montana and I love to ride my bicycle here. Please consider cycling through Montana on your cross country trip. It's beautiful!! Also, thanks for backing the Madison Marathon. Maybe you can coordinate your pass through Montana with the marathon??? Good luck and have fun Sam
