Posted project update #7Greetings from the road
Post CommentSo, today is Day 24 of my 30 day road trip around the United States. As of today I have had the honor to photograph and record the stories of 39 Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Veterans.
I am currently in Kansas and headed to Jay, Oklahoma to visit with the 40th Veteran of the trip. After Oklahoma I am driving to Indianapolis, Indiana to document Veterans 42 & 43. While in Indiana I will be having & documenting brunch on Sunday with about 6-8 LGBT Veterans. Should be an interesting discussion.
From there I will be headed to Ann Arbor, MI for a visit with the 43rd Veteran of the trip.
Then possibly two more Veteran visits in Ohio & Maryland before heading home!!!
After I return from the road trip and spending a few days in Brooklyn- On Sept 30th-I will hop on plane to Seattle, WA area to visit with 4-6 more LGBT Veterans returning October 6th!
Then....comes the fun part...editing, editing, editing and more editing, images and audio and then printing, which should be around 60 portraits for the exhibit:
Opens on Veteran's Day, November 11th, 2010 at the LGBT Center, Manhattan http://gaycenter.org/
While on the road I have been documenting my travels with my handy i phone and posting on my blog:
http://joannsantangelo.wordpress.com/
This has been an amazing experience! I am truly honored to have the opportunity to visit with and hear the stories of these courageous American Heros.
Hope to see you at the Opening!
Best,
Jo AnnJo Ann Santangelo
