Posted project update #29Artwork found!!
Post CommentA big thanks to the honest Jason Wood (listen to 11 O'Clock Comics, a podcast he co-hosts with Chris Neseman, David Price and Vince Bonavoglia). Jason let me know that the missing artwork was included in a package I sent him last week.
Thanks, Jason!

Posted project update #28To those of you who received artwork this weekend
Post CommentAs I mentioned in my last update, I inadvertently left a sketch (Batgirl) in one of the 17 artwork packages I sent off last week. Yes, I am a moron.
Has your page arrived yet? If the artwork has arrived, would you mind looking in the envelope to see if I included an additional sketch? It wouldn't be between the pieces of cardboard.
Thanks!
To everyone who emailed me about a snafu, I'll be shipping the snafus (including international page donors) out this week. Thanks so much for your patience.

Posted project update #27You may have an extra!
Post CommentAttention everyone receiving artwork!
The possibility exists that a 9 x 12 commission was in your envelope when we shipped out your page.
Here's what happened: I put all of the pages I was sending into one of the envelopes and took them to Kerrie's house, where we packaged the rewards. When I took the pages out, the 9 x 12 (smaller than the 11 x 17 pages) must have stayed in the envelope.
While I was packing each page between 2 pieces of cardboard, Kerrie was addressing the envelopes. I doubt she even saw the piece when she put the cardboard in the envelope.
In fact, looking at my receipt, there's a single envelope that was charged $2.73 shipping, while all of the others are charged $2.56. Unfortunately, my receipt doesn't list the destination of that piece.
So please, please, please check your envelopes for an extra drawing—especially if your postage says $2.73!!! I'll make it worth your while if you can get the piece (a commission that was paid for by an international supporter) back from you.
Thanks!!

Posted project update #26Artwork has been sent!
Post CommentOriginal art going to destinations in the U.S. went out today. According to the Post Office, most of the pages should reach you by Saturday at the latest.
Those of you awaiting an original page and living outside the United States, yours shipments will go out tomorrow. I didn't realize I was out of customs forms, so I grabbed a couple on the way out today.
By end of week, I'll be sending out a few of the snafu replacements (you know who you are).
Thanks to everyone who wrote me after your incentives arrived. It's really encouraging!
Look for another update or two this week!

Posted project update #25Everything shipped (except for the artwork!)
Post CommentHi, everyone!
It's all gone! Well, almost.
Everything shipped except for the original pages. Kerrie and I will be packaging them up all nuke-proof this Tuesday night (she's an amazing help!), and will ship them out on Wednesday.
If you've been checking in on the production blog, it's been updating regularly M-F again. I had to dial it back from showing full pages for fear of spoiling the story before you got to read it! And I can't say that I've been posting everything in sequence, either. ;)
If you haven't accepted your blog invitation, or lost it, please contact me and I'll re-invite you.
The scripts are getting a final once-over before I pass them along to Josh for lettering. He'll letter issue 1 while I'm finishing the existing pages. While Jason has a handful of the pages colored, I'll send you a black and white lettered PDF of the first issue, followed by a color one when the entire issue s colored.
We'll repeat this process with issues two, three, and four.
Thanks!

Posted project update #24The PDF copies
Post CommentHi, all!
Let's talk about the PDF of the new material.
As I've been working on this project, the story has grown. What was initially planned as a 2-issue series has ballooned to 4 issues. The down side of this is that the project has dragged on. The upside, of course, is that instead of getting a 44-page story, you get an 88-page one.
I know that the production delay may have caused a concern, and I apologize for not speaking up sooner. As I plug through this, I adopt a "head down, work harder strategy," and find myself quoting Porkins from Star Wars, "Almost there."
And, like Porkins, the Death Star is never as close as you think and it's better to speak up sooner.
And we all know what happened to Porkins.
I'm over halfway through the series, but as scenes have been added to increase clarity, I find myself 6 pages away from completing issue 1, and 6 away from completing #2, with chunks of issues 3 and 4 completed, as well.
Rather than string it out longer, and further test your patience, I'd like to send you PDFs of each issue, as it's completed. I should have thought of this sooner and credit goes to contributor Lyn for the idea.
When issue 1 is wrapped, you'll receive a black-and-white PDF of it, followed by a color PDF of the issue when Jason Millet finishes the colors. We'll follow through all 4 issues in this manner, so you'll be receiving 8 PDFs as the work proceeds.
And, of course, when the book goes to print, your name will be included in the acknowledgments section (and in the acknowledgments for the trade paperback, if sales warrant a collection), as well.
I apologize for the less-than-ideal timetable, but hope that you will enjoy the longer story.

Posted project update #23The last week of rewards
Post CommentHello, everyone--
After a marathon Sunday session of packing envelopes, I'm excited to announce that all of the rewards are packed. The parking at my local post office is pretty awful, so I'm spreading out shipping over the next 5 days. A long walk carrying packages of heavy books is hard on an old man like me. ;)
I will be alerting you on the day that your package ships.
Some of you have received notification today that your package shipped this morning. If you haven't received your shipment and you do not receive a note from me saying your package has shipped BY END OF DAY FRIDAY, please let me know. We're so near the end now that I don't want anyone to fall through the cracks.
Thanks again!

I'm still not totally clear on the address thing. In amazon I have 4 addresses listed in my address book, how do I identify which one I want you to use? Or am I looking in the wrong spot? Thanks...

Any shipping updates? Athena hasn't shown up for me yet. Project updates? I was doing some searches and found mention of an Athena Voltaire Omnibus! I still need to read the first stories...
