Posted project update #23Adapting The Graveyard Book
P. Craig Russell recently attended MoCCA Fest in New York City, where he was the Guest of Honor. Afterwards, he spent a couple of days in the New York City Library (the one with the lions out front) working on the script and thumbnails for his graphic novel adaptation of Neil Gaiman's The Graveyard Book. Craig's comments on the latter experience: "What a space to work in. How can something be both vast and cozy?"
Since he’s heavily into “storytelling” mode, we grabbed him as soon as he got back and shot the last bonus segment for the Graphic Storytelling DVD. In it, Craig talks about the process of adapting the written word into a visual form, and we even get a look at his thumbnail sketches. A few choice bits of info are also revealed—such as the names of some of the top-flight artists that he will be collaborating with on the adaptation. Two frame grabs from the shoot are included below. All of the storytelling videos have been edited and we are currently authoring the DVD. We’re still on schedule to deliver it—and all the other physical rewards—by the end of June. The Graphic Storytelling web series will go online in early July.
Stay tuned for more updates and a sneak peek at the DVD cover art!
