Rose/Plum Won and a New Website

In case you don't get the newsletter, the rose/plum color just beat out the darker blue in the site colors poll.

Also, the new website is live: www.plungemagazine.com.

Since I didn't end up finding/using a site designer, the extra $500 is going toward issue 3 and paying for cover art on issues 1 and 2. If you know of an artists who'd donate their work for a small honorarium ($30-50), link to gallery or online store, and spotlight article/interview, please send their names my way.

    What's next?

So Plunge was funded 105% before the campaign closed on Tuesday. I think all of the money has made its way to Amazon by now (totaling nearly all I'd set aside as dedicated money), so that's good.

I have been looking into web design so far, trying to figure out what the eventual site should look like and how that can be managed. (If you know of any good web designers who wouldn't mind donating part of their time to help, please pass their info my way or Plunge's info theirs).

I have also been looking into how I want to manage donations in the future. I had thought to use PayPal, but their recent behavior is having me look at alternatives.

I will start rolling out perks this weekend. I will also send out another newsletter with a fuller explanation of the timeline and what's going on. If you've not subscribed yet, now might be a good time to do so, especially if you want to take advantage of  your voting rights. You can subscribe via the website (www.plungemagazine.com) (bottom of the home page) or by clicking the link to the current newsletter (link is in a previous update).

    Thanks again, everyone. :)

The best PayPal alternative out there right now is Dwolla (www.dwolla.com) -- they don't have any of the content restrictions that PP does, and their fees are much, much better.

Contact me if you'd like more advice on providers, etc -- I have a whole list! And congrats again :)

    Plunge is Funded!!

You all were amazing. Yesterday alone you pledged $560. Then, this morning, came the last $108. To everyone who has given, thank you so much. When the campaign ends, KS will send you more information. I just wanted to let you know that, with 55 hours to go, Plunge is fully funded. Thank you.

    $233 to go!

When I went to bed last night, Plunge was 66% funded. As I am typing this, though, the ezine is 88% funded. With three days left to go, Plunge still needs $233.

Thank you so so much to everyone who has contributed so far. Double-thanks to those of you who have increased your initial pledge. You are all amazing.

In other news, a press release about Plunge can be read here on the PrideIndex.

$1,086 raised with 5 days to go

Plunge has burst part the thousand dollar mark. In order to make the goal on time, we need to raise close to $200 each day.

In other news, rather than use an email submission system along with all the headaches that would entail, I have set up a free account with Submittable, formerly Submishmash. In addition to all the convenience it offers, Submittable will strip identifying information off each submission, freeing me to make decisions based solely on the work.I would have tried to do that anyway, but Submittable does make it easier.

The submission form is currently live. If you have time, please submit a document through it. I want to start getting an idea for how the system works/feels in preparation for July.
