Posted project update #6Exhibition dates for Berlin Diary...almost set...!
Hi everyone.
I talk with the owner of the gallery this morning and she expects that the construction on the facade of her building (where the gallery is) will be finished by the end of the month. So later this week we will talk about exhibition dates for Berlin Diary. Yipee!
Meanwhile, if you want a bit of fun, Otto and I began a photo page three weeks ago in Berlin and photographers from around the world have taken part, including one of National Geographic's photographer stars. You are all welcome to submit something to the project too, if you wish. The site is called, ""Where is Otto?" and the link is:
http://haveyouseenotto.blogspot.com/
The site is growing and changing every few days. So far it includes photographs from Africa, Asia, Europe, and North America.
If you need a photo of Otto for your submission, I'll attach one with this email.
Wishing you all the best from Spain...
David

Posted project update #5Example of size of the Berlin Diary Prints
Post CommentHello everyone,
It is looking more and more like we will wait until the scaffolding is gone before doing the show. The facelift work on the building is also going to be noisy and somehow it makes more sense to do the show when the construction is finished and the building and gallery beautiful once again.
To give you an idea of the size and impression of the Berlin Diary photos, I will include one image I took in the frame shop. (If you can't see the image in your email, click on the link of the image. This should take you to the web page where you can see it.)
Thanks for your patience and comments!

Posted project update #4Progress report
Hello to everyone,
And so sorry I haven't given y'all an update on my beautiful wonderful exhibition still to come... The exhibition opening was supposed to be near the end of October (Halloweenish, perhaps appropriate for my show), but the gallery owner and I had one pretty big unknown factor that could have dampened the show.
The building where the gallery is was scheduled for a facelift, and the gallery owner and I were worried that the scaffolding would covering up the five giant, beautiful windows which are one of the best parts of this gallery. And no one could tell us when the scaffolding was to go up, nor how long would it be standing. So we decided to wait and see.
Well, she called last week to say that the scaffolding had gone up, and would I like to come take a look? (I will add photos to this so you can see too). Yesterday we met and looked at the changes. So far, the scaffolding is not as bad as expected (it doesn't really cover the windows) but it does cut down on the natural light in the gallery. She suggested that we could wait until late winter or spring for the opening, just to be sure that the construction around the gallery would be gone. I haven't decided yet (I'd really like to get the cool show up) but I suppose in a week or so I will have to make a decision.
What do you think? Any ideas?
I'll attempt to include one photo of the outside of the gallery (with scaffolding) and one of the inside, darkened by the construction.

The inside looks remarkably bright, although the scaffolding does seem to block out a bit. Hmmm. Is the gallery open at night? Do they turn on the lights during the day? Then it wouldn't matter. Do the seasons and holidays make a difference in attendance/traffic? I suppose that would have some bearing. Also weather (if cloudy or rainy weather make it even darker inside). Well, have fun deciding! (When it does finally go up, can you take some photos of the exhibit for all of us to see?)

Hi Dave, well done! I would be delighted to have the Berlin Diary catalog. I'm at:
1611 Learnard Ave.
Lawrence, KS 66044(and for the sake of complete contact info, here's phone too: 785-842-3867)
I'd also be interested at some point in purchasing an archival print of something from the flowers exhibition. They are so incredibly lovely. Can you let me know the prices for 9X11 and 13X19.

Posted project update #2Try this...it is amazing.
Something fun, like a game, do a search for JOE AVERY on the Kickstarter SEARCH field, and then look at the percentage funded towards the goal. It's really off the charts--no doubt breaking all Kickstarter percentage records! Try it! And spread the link. Get Grow a Garden out to the world...Thanks!Post Comment -

Posted project update #1Progress! Berlin Diary has been going well. Check out the page!
The best thing about Kickstarter is that even liittle pledges count. I am amazed at how backers keep showing up, and how everything counts towards the final. I keep getting pledges from $1 to $200 at a steady pace. After the first few days I thought I would never make it. Now, with 10 days to go, we are almost there. Thanks to every one of you!
