    Thanks to my wonderful supporters!

Hi Everyone--just wanted to send a quick thank you note to everyone who backed me. With 35 minutes to raise $550, I feel pretty confident that I'm not going to make it. But I appreciate everyone going out on a limb--I know this felt like "yet another of Anne's crazy ideas"--but all my craziness means a lot to me (as does your support).

Instead of pushing too hard on fundraising for this, since New Year's Eve (when I got accepted as a project leader) I have undertaken some significant non-Kickstarter projects that have meant a lot to me.

    1. I finished my novel "You Think THAT'S Why I Slept With You." It passed the first round of cuts in the Amazon.com breakthrough novelists contest, so I'm excited about that.

    2. I got certified to teach Zumba classes and have a tentative first "gig" at a local country club, with feelers out to another one.

    3. I successfully steered our daughters through the difficulty of having to put down our dog, Elizabeth, after 12 wonderful years with our family.

So between that, homeschooling, working out, book club, laundry, bills and the occasional snowstorm-induced shoveling fits, well, it's been a busy 2 months!

Now, I'm off to Vegas for a girls weekend with my sister and her friends. Thanks again for your support--I really appreciate it (and just wanted to remind you that your credit card won't be charged since the project didn't get funded--no need to pay up if I'm not doing the stunt!).

    Love,
    Anne

Zsa Zsa had 9 husbands, but I only have 8 backers

    'lo everyone,

After a tremendously up-and-down week (polishing my novel for submission, deciding to get Zumba certified and getting an audition to teach, but then having to put down our beloved 12-year-old golden retriever), I am redoubling my funding efforts. Enough whining--found this list of the much-married and thought I'd share it with you, in the spirit of wedding-related-craziness that is my Kickstarter project.

Top 11 Celebrity Honeymooners (from about.com)
    1. Zsa Zsa Gabor--9 husbands
Once said, "How many husbands have I had? You mean apart from my own?"

    2. Liz Taylor--8 husbands
But really, doesn't Richard Burton only count once even if she married him twice?

    3. Lana Turner--8 husbands

    4. Mickey Rooney--8 wives
Really? Did none of them see that Pete's Dragon movie?

    5. Robert Evans--7 wives
Former head of Paramount Pictures--I see the trend--go to Hollywood and you're issued a new spouse and a sex-specific enhancement (hair plugs or breast implants).

    6. Jerry Lee Lewis--6 wives
One was a 13-year-old cousin, one drowned, one OD'd on methadone. So few happy endings, but I love the optimism of a man who's been married 3 times by age 23.

    7. Billy Bob Thornton--5 wives
Yeah, he married Angelina Jolie and all, but what I find more fascinating is that he has a pathological fear of antique furniture. Can't be in a room with the stuff... Could there be a wedding/furniture connection?

    8. Joan Collins--5 husbands
Honestly, after all these others, 5 is starting to sound downright conservative.

    9. Geena Davis--5 husbands
And a Mensa member and women's Olympic archery team finalist? Intriguing. Then again, when you're married to a plastic surgeon, how can you help but look good in a bathing suit

    10. William Shatner--4 wives
Do they have to watch those priceline.com ads?

    11. Liza Minelli--4 wives

Agreed--the project has such a visual component--I hope to get a good variety of pictures of the whole process (walking, throwing, meeting people, being stared at, finding an Elvis impersonator, etc.).

    1/3 down, 2/3 to go!

    Hi to all my backers,

After another of my recent annoying bouts of insomnia (I wake around 4 and can't get a song out of my head, usually), I finished my book draft for submission to amazon.com's "discover new writers" contest. It's off to my editor buddy, so now I can focus more on my kickstarter project.

We're 1/3 of the day there and I've heard from several friends who have said they're meaning to pledge, but just haven't gotten around to it. I've pestered via email and Facebook, but I think I'm going to redouble my efforts. I'd like to get to at least 60% funded by the end of January.

Please send a quick email to your peeps or post something about this as your Facebook, MySpace or Twitter status updates today--if you do FB--it'll create a link if you copy/paste the URL. If not, tell them to go to www.kickstarter.com and search for the keyword "bride"--that'll find me every time.

Thanks to everyone for their support--let's push on to the finish line!
    Love to you all-
    Anne

Houston, we no longer have a problem! Video is loaded (and so am I...)

    'lo everyone,

After 6 drafts and endless cussing, the wonderful Kings have helped me get the video uploaded. Hurrah, hizzah, whoopee... now I'm never doing that again.

Many, many thanks to Gwen & Chad for their fabulous hospitality and patience, now I'm going to bed!

Trying, trying, trying to get video to upload is, well, trying...

Hello Glorious Backers (otherwise known as Catherine, Dad and Patrick)!

I shot two videos today, snarfing three Twinkies in the process and requiring two full bridal gown costume changes--looong story.

So I have a video for the project, but cannot seem to get it to upload. My guess is that the file is so large (134MB?--but they let up to 200MB, so not sure on that) that it slows down. Probably a glitch on my end--too old of a computer.

I'll try again tonight and then maybe shoot an even shorter video.

I'll join the current century, videographically that is, soon enough...
    Anne

PS--I've created my own "walking billboard" shirts to advertise the project--will post a pic soon.

    Thanks Dad & Catherine!

My first two backers! I love it! You can't know how exciting it was to log in this morning and see 10% funded instead of all zeroes.

Two notes: 1) I'll be working on a video this weekend--I know it needs one, so stay tuned...

    2) just to clarify, I've already purchased the airfare and hotel, so project funds aren't being used to "buy me a trip to Las Vegas."

I'm flying to Vegas to run a half marathon and will be spending a few days in town after the race. Since I don't gamble, I created this project as a way to fill the hours, connect with people and have fun in a "build some karmic good energy in the world" kind of way.

Thanks again! Gotta run, I have to get going to the gym--Latin Fusion class awaits...
