    Update #6

    Hi everyone!

The funds finally hit on Saturday, I really can't thank you enough.  This upcoming week will be filled with planning the details of the return trip.  I am scheduled to meet with a researcher in Japan, a researcher in Guam and then finally work out the logistics in Truk Lagoon.

Just last week, I underwent Ground Penetrating Radar training with the device I will be bringing to look for the bodies on the island.  None of this would even be conceivable without your pledges, so again, I am humbled and grateful for this small but dynamic cadre that you all are.  Together, we are the core of this unique expedition and are bonded like a family with its results.

Lastly, I wanted to show you a project poster a friend of mine designed.  Your thoughts would be most welcome as it goes thru a few revisions.

Thanks again and chat next week!

    Guy

    Happy New Year

THANK YOU!  Those words do not even scratch the surface to how you made 2011 end.

Because of you, you blessed 26 backers of this effort, you all will actually help this dream become a reality.  Each and every one of you gave of your precious labor to fund a project you may know very little about, but you gave because you felt this was a worthy effort and because of your friendship.  Not only does this honestly fill me with joy, but also with slight trepidation.  That's because I now not only have myself and family to answer to for but also to all of you too.  You all put your hard earned money and trust into me and I take that very seriously.

So what's next?  First, bookmark www.lostclipper.com on your web browser.  There you will soon see updates on my progress to Truk Lagoon, the investigation effort of securing one of three dig locations and the effort to secure the site.  Once that is accomplished, I will then use a portable 3D Ground Penetrating Device (GPR) to scan the area for the entombed (according to local legend) bodies of the 15 passengers and crew of the Hawaii Clipper flying boat.  If we are successful, two specialists back in the states who will conduct DNA testing and pathology on the remains to concur or negate the actual cause of death (I personally believe it was poison).

Later, the site will be treated as a 70 year old crime scene, filmed for documentation (for later use in a documentary if possible) and processed to ask for US Air Force excavation and repatriation back to the United States and ultimately, transport to their final resting places with the families that have long awaited that moment.

This Tuesday, January 3, I start 2012 with the gas pedal to the floor.  I will interview a Pan Am Expert for supporting the information history side of things.  Later, I will travel to New Hampshire and undergo training of the GPR device (the company that makes them is loaning me a unit to take to Micronesia, the first time this has even been done).

From there it will be prep time to have everything in place for a February departure to Truk Lagoon.  I will spend two weeks on a remote island (travel by small boat) equipped with digging equipment, GPR, a guide, contract laborers and five sets of Japanese / American / British maps to identify the burial site.  This is what your pledge will enable us to do.  There is so much more to tell but I think I will put that on my clipper blog as time reveals itself.

To the Sauceda family, thank you for your time in giving me Jose's photographs, interview, Kickstarter support and continued prayers, you are simply an amazing family.  Thank you.

Thank you again and God bless you all.  Only because of you will history be changed, families reunited and a wrong made right.

    Sincerely yours,

    Guy
