Posted project update #4WE DID IT!
Thanks to everyone who already donated to help us reach our funding goals. You're the best, and we appreciate it and so do the hundreds of students who will get to come and learn in our lab!
But there's still 4 days left! That's 4 days to forward this to all your friends and family and help us raise enough money to keep this program alive for 2 or even 3 more years!
So please forward this around and let's get up to at least 125% funding if not 150% or even 200%

Posted project update #2Here we go! $2,000 Matching grant tomorrow!
Post CommentWe're super close to the $5000 mark, and we're almost 1/2 way to our goal. The project has been getting some good press lately and I've heard from a lot of people that are really excited about it.
The big news is that on Tuesday 2/22 we're going to have an incredible matching grant.
Our friend Steve at Kinderhook Farm is pledging to match everything donated up to $2,000!!
This is an incredible offer, and we truly appreciate it. Steve and Lee at Kinderhook raise some of the best beef, lamb and eggs we've ever tasted and we're proud to have their meat and eggs for sale.
Please check out their site: www.kinderhookfarm.com or better yet go visit them on the farm. Tell them The Classrooms in the kitchen program sent you. We'll be working with them to make sure we get some classes time to "ask a farmer" about what it's like to raise beef, sheep, and chickens so that we can really take this program to the next level and teach about where our food really comes from.
Thanks for your support,
The Brooklyn Kitchen
and
The Meat HookBONUS: Anyone who gives $500 or more tomorrow (2/22) Will also receive a delicious dry-aged steak from one of Kinderhook's grass-fed cows.

Posted project update #7A great day for farming!
Hey folks,
Wow! We made it! After several long days, we got all 1.2 mill lbs of soil up on the roof. Meanwhile, your support has brought us all the way home on Kickstarter! We are over 100% funded, which is a good thing because now that we're done with construction, it's time to pay bills ;)
We can't wait to show each and every one of you the magic that is Brooklyn Grange farm. In the meantime, come meet us at the tiki bar in the backyard at Roberta's tonight to count down the last few minutes of our Kickstarter campaign! We'll be there from 9:30pm onward. And we'll be in touch very soon about rewards for your generous pledges.
Thank you so much for helping us make the world's first commercial rooftop farm a reality!
All the beets,
Brooklyn Grange

Posted project update #6Getting closer...
Hey all,
We're so excited with our progress both on Kickstarter and on the farm. We're about two-thirds of the way through our install and the roof is looking beautiful. And we are keeping our fingers crossed that we'll reach our Kickstarter goal this Friday, the 28th! We are so grateful to those of you who've sent their support via our pledge drive on Kickstarter, and to our friends and family who have come out and worked so hard to help us build the farm. We couldn't have done this without you guys.
Stay tuned for more farm news soon!

This looks fantastic. It's incredible that all that soil and farming is in the middle of a city. I'm pulling for you guys to reach your goal. You're finishing strong!

I'm behind this project 100% and pledged my money a while ago, sending out encouragement to my friends to do the same through my facebook page. Can you share your experiences with the stop work order placed on the installation a week ago? I think the whole green roof movement here in NYC would benefit from following your story. Maybe someone even has some legal help to offer?
