    Food Forward is Live!

We did it! After many months of hard work, we officially launched the series trailer on our new website yesterday.

Check it out at www.foodforward.tv (hit refresh in your browser to see the final version)

Now, we are back in the saddle, raising more money for a full pilot episode on urban agriculture in America. Stay tuned for more updates on the project and thanks again for your support.

The trailer is looking really good - the opening is particularly strong. The animation interposed with your feature footage is a good attention grabber. It was done well and should serve to broaden the shows appeal to a wider audience.

    Food Forward update

    Hi there,

Remember us? We're still at it. Shooting our trailer went well but editing the thing down and really making it shine is proving to be the hardest part. Why do directors get all the credit? Film editors are the ones who really create the magic. Anyway, we're close to wrapping it up and we think the trailer will be worth the wait. Meanwhile, we've finalized our logo that will be going on your merch. We'll be updating you will an image of the new and improved Food Forward logo soon.

    Hasta pronto,

    Stett and Greg

Production for Food Trailer almost done!

We just finished four days of production and came away with some really great stuff. One of the highlights was spending time with grassfed beef rancher Joe Morris and his family and crew. We shot early in the morning and worried the low hanging coastal fog would mess with our helicopter shots, but we were high enough up in the hills above Watsonville, Calif. that it wasn't an issue. We got some truly beautiful, heroic footage of Joe and crew on horseback doing their thing. Joe sees himself not so much as a rancher but as a caretaker of watersheds and entire ecosystems. As he tells it, his method of cattle ranching allows grassland to flourish which not only feeds the cattle but acts as a carbon sink and water purification system. And the beef just happens to be delicious, too.

We also traveled to West Oakland for a segment on urban agriculture. You're going to love farmer Abeni Ramsey. She's passionate, articulate and making a real difference in the lives of hundreds of East Bay residents. Our trip to urban farmer and author Novella Carpenter's Ghost Town Farm was great, too. We scaled an abandoned building nearby for what we hope will make for some dramatic shots of her patch of green in a concrete jungle.

The weather cooperated on our shoot with sustainable fisherman Hans Haveman, too. It was foggy all morning, but just as we motored onto the waters of Monterey Bay the sun came out to reveal the Pacific Ocean in all its glory. Hans was great, too. He's created a co-op of sorts of small scale, hook and line fisherman who supply him with sustainably sourced fish. A great model for other coastal communities.

Still to come is our shoot with "renegade lunch lady" Ann Cooper in Boulder, Colo. Stay tuned and as always, thanks for your support.

    Food Forward update

We're set to begin production on our trailer April 23. We'll be on location in Santa Cruz, West Oakland and Boulder, Colo. shooting stories about urban agriculture, school lunch reform, sustainable fishing, and the virtues of grass-fed beef. We can only do all this because of the help we received from all of you. Once again we offer our humble thanks.

Be on the lookout for your cool Food Forward hats, t-shirts and bumper stickers.

    Onward!
