Arin, Openindie.com rocks! You have my pledge. I wonder though if we can also focus on film discovery. Instead of just putting up a bunch of films on a website like an Amazon-style ghetto I'm thinking we need a method to really allow people to discover great films. I think Openindie.com will really succeed if we can implement Last.fm/Pandora style "stations" where users can discover new films in a similiar way that Last.fm/Pandora users discover new music. There will be an alogrithim so when you enter a well-known film title you can preview film trailers or :30 sec promos from all the filmmakers on Openindie who match this style/genre. Discovery of films is a big problem, as you know, and I just hope that Openinde.com will do something innovative rather than creating a jungle of indie films where exhibitors have a hard time choosing what to screen...and thus are less motivated to return. Also, I think Openindie.com would really kick-ass if it had a social networking component (i.e. like Last.fm). Want to discuss the film you just screened with other fans? Well, play the trailer on Openindie and right there you will see who is screening it this week! Want to know who has screened a film that you are debating whether to screen? Well, write a quick note who already has screened it! Shout out on their profile page!! I'm happy to brainstorm more. As Ben said, we really need to differentiate Openindie.com from Indiescreenings.net (and of course BNT). Love, Sarah director/producer MEDITATE AND DESTROY www.meditateanddestroy.com
