    Y HALO THAR $5,000!

We broke $5,000 with more than two days to go! Thank you, everyone, so very much. This is just unbelievable, and so very unexpected. I'm going to do everything I can to justify your faith in this project.

Moments after I sent the last update...

...someone bought a character-naming package. So now there are two left. And we're over $4,500... o_O

Five days left and still climbing

    Dear peoples,

As of this writing, we're $20 from $4,300 and there are still five days left. Only three character-naming packages remain. I can't believe five of them sold! (Someone asked me if you could have a character named for someone else rather than yourself. Answer: yes.)

Many of you backers have taken advantage of the early coupon I sent to get book one's ebook--I mean, hey, it's just sitting there already finished, why not give it to you now! If you haven't gotten your coupon, ping me and I'll happily get it to you.

On the book two front, Release Candidate 1 is with the beta readers. Those of you who bought the right to read it in manuscript form hot off the Scrivener compile, you'll very probably be getting it not long after the Kickstarter closes. I need to put together the acknowledgments page; for that I'll need info from you, and you'll get that request when I send out the surveys at the end.

The cartographer has been chosen; he's Robert Altbauer, whose work I've admired at the Cartographer's Guild for some time now. He'll be getting down to business when we fund, though we're already talking about the project. It's gonna be so purty!

Bea Gonzalez is done with the front cover. I'll post it, shall I? Er, I haven't posted a pic here--hope this works...

What else. Workin' on the short story collection. Gonna put the high-res character studies in the store at MeiLinMiranda.com. Haven't priced 'em yet. Just, uh, generally freaking out here. I joked to the hubby that at this rate we were gonna top $4,500. I'm not making that joke any more...

My gratitude towards you all knows no bounds. I'm just amazed, humbled--"stunned" is the best adjective I've found, and yes, I looked in my thesaurus. In my therapist's office today as I was telling her about all this I started giggling like a maniac. See what you people do to me? :D

    Love,

    Mei

    Over $4,000!

Wowie. Over $4,000. I...wow. And there's ten or so days left. o_O

Right now the beta readers are looking over "release candidate one" of book two--I tend to number drafts using the good ol' software system. I'm already getting feedback and corrections from typos and editing artifacts. This thing is going to be ready to release as a raw manuscript right around the time the Kickstarter funds, and the ebook should be ready by mid-March since I want to wait for the map before formatting the ebook.

Speaking of which, I've got a lead on a mapmaker whose work I like; we're going to be entering discussions soon. This weekend I'm hoping the hubby and I can start moving stuff around in the basement to make my lil studio space, and I'm picking at the short story collection--picking at it mostly because I'm thinking about ways to make it better.

Please tweet or post on facebook about this project. Yes, I've made my backing. And more backing means I can do more--more things like advertising and bookmarks and giveaway copies and stuff like that there. :) And as long as you're on Kickstarter, look around--there are so very many awesome projects worthy of your support.

Thank you so very much for your support!

    Just crossed the $3,800 mark!

We've got 13 days left, and I'm beginning to think we really might make $4,000. Which would be...I can't even tell you what that would mean. For once I might get some money out of one of my presales myself. Up until now it's all been spoken for--this one is largely spoken for, once the new rewards and taxes are figured in.

I'M NOT COMPLAINING! I'M TOTALLY NOT COMPLAINING! :) This level of funding is making it possible for me to do so much more with the book, faster, than I would have been able to do otherwise.

    BUT.

It'll be really nice to have a bit left over for me. :)
