Christian, the very role of a distributor in a supply chain is to make a profit by connecting suppliers to consumers. I backed this project as an individual because I love the product and want to see it flourish. In exchange, I get a product. If I were a distributor, I would have invested because I love the product, want to see it flourish, and think that in exchange for my significant investment I can use the exclusive access to make a profit by connecting other people to a product I think they'll like. That was part of the deal.

The Elevation Lab store claims that direct sales orders will ship "in late April after the Kickstarter orders go out": http://store.elevationlab.com/collections/frontpage/products/pre-order-elevation-dock That is awfully close to when the distributor backers will be receiving their shipments. The absolute best head start these distributors can expect is one month before general direct sales. These distributors invested in the project in exchange for exclusive access to the market. Now the best they can hope for is thirty days to receive inventory and sell through their product before they're competing with direct sales. Distributor/investors paid almost the same price per unit that individual backers paid (backed individually, the components of the $10,000 Distributor Pack total to $11,153). You're offering direct sales of the Dock+ at 50% markup over the Kickstarter price. Do you think individual distributor/investors are going to be able to sell for much less than 50% markup? Once direct sales start (again, at most thirty days after distributors receive their inventory), only very large distributors are going to be able to take the requisite hit to their margins to make this worthwhile.
