Post CommentAanii to all our Book Backers:
NEWS for May 2012
COUNTING CARDS:
We just designed and ordered a set of ''Ojibwe 1-10 Counting Thank-You Notecards'' for all who so kindly donated and selected this reward. The cards are at the printer and will be shipped to our offices by the 23rd of May. We will then send them out ASAP!
For now here is a preview of the front side. The back side has the numbers listed 1-10 in Ojibwe. We don't want to show all of the design as the element of surprise is always nice and it's for our special backers of course!
ARTWORK PRINTS:
Artwork prints for those who selected this reward are at the printer and being done in full color on heavy paper. These will go out the same time as the ''Thank-you Notecards!''
LANGUAGE CAMP- MANISTEE, MICHIGAN:
FOUR Colours Productions is proud to be an official presenter for the Manistee, Michigan Anishinaabe Family Language/Culture Camp July 27-30th.
Brita, Cecelia, Isadore and maybe Rachel will be presenting both the "Ajijaak" and "Sunny and Snow" storybooks in a live playacting production complete with large illustrations, semi-costumes and some great expressions.
We invite you to attend this FREE weekend camp on the shores of "Ajijaak" Territory on Lake Michigan in Western, Michigan.

Post CommentAaniin! Hello!
Just thought I would post an update report for all our wonderful backers! We have been working behind the scenes to get our "ducks in a row" to launch the production of "Ajijaak" (that's a lot of birds in one sentence!).
This week Isadore Toulouse and Brita Brookes will be at the largest Ojibwe Language Conference in North America working on learning new words & learning more about the language. It is the Anishinaabemowin Teg conference in Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan. Highly recommended!
http://www.anishinaabemowin-teg.org/
Once Isadore and Brita are back from that event it will be full time "Ajijaak" mode until completion! Cecelia is refining her excellent story, Isadore will be translating and interpreting and Brita will be revising and creating new artworks and layouts for the book. We have all been communicating and decided to start after the conference so we can give all our focus to the creation of the book.
Here's whats ahead on the road to "Ajijaak":
April:
- Thank you cards sent out to those backers who get counting thank you cards.
- Prints of illustration sent out to those backers who get that portion as well.
- Refine story, translate, and finalize layout and artwork.
May:
- Insert Ojibwe text and refine total layout and artworks.
- Prepare a working proof copy and send to team for comment and review.
- Obtain ISBN number
June:
- Upon refinements and gaining approval from team- Go to print!
- Record audio CD of story.
Early July: (or sooner!)
- Shipping of all remaining rewards to all backers to whom it applies and post books for sale on the internet site.
- Maybe a celebratory Feast and Give-away!
There it is all listed out- we will post updates here each month and if we beat our schedule and go into production sooner we will be sure to let everybody know!

Very good- we are all working on water issues in Michigan and Canada- so many people praying and working with youth. I will work on that picture and add blue to the streams. Same for my brothers and sisters in Rosebud who's crucial waters are tainted with uranium and toxic- all our waters need healing. Good advice!
