Posted project update #23Project Oliver - Season Two begins!

Season One of the Project Oliver web series has come to a close and I'm ready and excited to begin Season Two! I'm hoping this season we are able to raise the funds needed for a new home for Oliver! While I can't promise this goal will be reached, I intend to step up my efforts this year.
Oliver is doing quite well at the Primarily Primates Animal Sanctuary and as you may have seen in the Eagle Scouts video, he had some new enrichment elements added to his habitat by the a San Antonio Eagle Scout troop. Additionally one of the Kickstarter.com "Home for Oliver" supporters, Shelly Ladd, has made a major commitment to the sanctuary by volunteering her time and expertise to enrichment for the animals, as well as becoming an administrator for the Primarily Primates Facebook page. She visits Oliver daily and having more than 30 years of primate expertise, she has offered to help take Project Oliver towards it's goal.Please visit the Primarily Primates Facebook page and "Like" it at the link below, and you will receive updates on the sanctuary as well as Project Oliver.

I wanted to update you on the progress of "Project Oliver". There is currently a new video posted on the www.projectoliver.com website at the link below:Additionally there are several more in the editing pipeline which I will begin posting over the next few days and weeks.
In 2011 I'll be meeting with a habitat designer/builder for a possible new home for Oliver. Then in the next few months becomes the difficult, but I believe not impossible task of raising money to build Oliver his new home. If all goes well, within the next several months I hope to make this a reality so that Oliver can once again know what it's like to walk on grass!

I wanted to give you an update on my film "Sherpa Stew". I returned from shooting in Nepal
nearly a month ago and shot some awesome footage of a Sherpa wedding and the lives of Sherpa's in the villages of Nepal as well as Kathmandu. Now that much of the logging and translation of footage has been completed, in the first few months of 2011 I hope to focus primarily on editing the film. Only one more major story element to shoot in the spring of 2011; the graduation of Kipa Sherpa's daughter from college in Buffalo, New York.Thanks everyone for making the shoot in Nepal a reality! Have a wonderful holiday!

Post CommentAfter waiting many months, I will finally be hopping on a plane to Nepal tomorrow night. While there I'll hike four days to Nima Dawa Sherpa's village, where his son will be getting married. This is in the same area where Nima Dawa grew up, and eventually built a school house so Sherpa children could get an education.
I also hope to film Nima Dawa as he returns to trekking, along side his son who is will be working in the trekking industry for the first time.
