I support simple, useful concepts. In my LinkedIn header I write that I am a Proponent of the Shoehorn. When solving problems, I advocate for straightforward, clean solutions. When drinking through a straw, I'm dreaming that it is re-usable.

Weird, the comment did show in the order it was typed... I think you can all figure it out.

Thanks for the good feedback. At this point I may have to make up both styles and get true usage data from the backers. Cloth: Good point on the lint, as that wasn't on my radar at first. Stylistically, this is a good fit. Functionally may be a different matter... Looking at absorbency and ease of washing. RE: this -- "Could there be an option to get a second case (to give to a friend) since we did hit the $5,000 mark? I would like to give my second set to someone (or maybe show the second set off to people where ever i go) and a second case would be nice. We're you thinking the same thing, or just make a case large enough to carry 1-2 straws?" 1. First, a second case *may* be an option, but the finances are going to be tight already with wanting to add the case in the first place and attempting to add cleaning brushes for everyone, as hindsight has shown that they truly are a necessity for a good product. 2. I had been envisioning a case that just held a single straw, for the sucker on the go... Again, thank you--for your support and your patience. Plastic: easy to clean, with each tube end capped with a small plastic cap. While innately more waterproofthan cloth, I couldn't guarantee a waterproof seal while simultaneously creating a case that is easy to open and close. I'm not in love with the aesthetics, but the simplicity of a quick rinse and guaranteed lint-free usage is compelling. That said, I'm really leaning toward cloth. Synthetic leather it canvas: I'll consider, but the nice thing about cloth is that you could drop it in the wash with ease.

Feel free to check the updates. Working through making the right case and also getting the straws right. For something that would seem so simple, there are a variety of challenges to producing these. I assure you, you will not be left out of the loop! :-)

You could go with a microfiber cloth material. Something like the same material that the otterbox for ipad comes with to clean the screen. Its fairly lint free. Another example is the microfiber sleeve the old ipod video used to come with.

@Marc The delivery date for the $1 prize level was April. I believe I delivered on the big Thank you, but if not, Thank you! The support is appreciated. The other prize levels have delivery times that are listed below each prize--June and July. I believe I am on-track for that. I will be keeping everyone posted over the next few weeks as the project evolves.
