Progress from Today's Work
Hi Everyone, So today was my first day to work exclusively on Emoji Dick. I made good progress: * I cleaned up the database of sentences. Originally I estimated ~6500 sentences, then I got to 10,...

Posted project update #8Dictionary sightings
Good news in that Dictionary stories have been spotted in the UK, Berlin and Chicago. That means international mail is what I was hoping it should be! If you haven't received yours yet please leave it till the end of the week and we will see from there..
I also received a great mail from Daniel Zarick and his project URBAN:READING and if you have five minutes take a look and post away!
I have also had a few requests about obtaining more Dictionaries before the Xmas and I am sure that is possible. I might need to add extra for next day delivery but email me here and I will have more details

Posted project update #7All shipped
So all books went first class / airmail on the 1st of December and I already have heard from a few UK backers that they arrived safely. Going on Royal Mail it takes a few more days to the US. In theory that means it should be with you any day now. Please tell me if you’re missing a book by the end of next week.
I didn't make many friends in the queue at the post office !

Posted project update #6it's arriving today ..
Good news - I have received the first batch of books today which I will be shipping out throughout the week. Hopefully all this will be done by the end of next week. I haven't posted the new design here because I thought people might like the surprise of receiving it in the post ?
But there are images of the cover on my site in the shop section -
If you have the time, I would also like to point out a new project working with on Charles Darwin's text- On the Origin of the Species.
http://www.samwinston.com/Work/DarwinIt's been a joy working with you and Kickstater and humbling to receive the support. I hope the book will brings a smile to you when it arrives.
Note; I also now have more copies available so feel free to spread the word !

Posted project update #4What to say ?
THANK YOU ! - it's been amazing and inspiring to have your support and as we easily passed the goal it means that the booked can be published exactly how it was envisioned - no compromises. Which is great. The feedback has been very humbling and I certainly have a good feeling about where this project can now grow.
As for timings - I am currently at Frankfurt bookfair and will be here till Monday (the 19th) - and then will meet with my printer to finalise the print run. Basically I am hoping to start shipping books by late November - I will also be in contact soon to arrange delivery address's
Again - your support has been deeply appreciated and I hope the book brings a smile to you
Best wishes

Posted project update #36 days to go
So far so good and 80% there!
I wanted to show you the blank dummy for the new format of the book (in hand)
and I also thought I would show you some of the original developmental experiments for the Dictionary story. These were part of an attempt to get words to meet - I will be taking the collage theme for making the bookmarks...
Also someone asked about timelines and I am hopping to have the printed books by mid November - and ship for late November

Posted project update #2new words
Last week I was fortunate enough to be invited to talk for 20 minutes about my work. And ‘it’s nice that’ were good enough to record and post online it today
http://www.itsnicethat.com
http://www.itsnicethat.com/talk/its-nice-that-talksThe project covers the Dictionary story in more depth and I also talk about new projects (even Rupert Murdoch gets mention?!). I spoke about ideas that I feel are quite pertinent to some of the challenges we face as creatives & if you can grab 20 minutes I would definitely be interested to hear people thoughts…
Also I have arranged for the excellent Justin from Fenner Paper to supply the paper for Dictionary Story and you can have a look at what he does here -

Posted project update #1Great covers
So, we're coming up to half way and everything is moving along brilliantly – thanks to everyone who has given their support.
I’m also really excited about commissioning the excellent David Pearson to do the new cover for Dictionary Story and if you haven’t checked out his work yet then I really recommend a look at his site http://www.davidpearsondesign.com
I recently talked about this project at Cambridge University and the response was great with the organisers saying they will create a blog of the event. (I will post when it gets online.)
I also gave a talk last night in London (for a great design publisher found here http://www.itsnicethat.com/). They filmed the event and we should also have that posted next week. It covers the dictionary project and also talks about why I was stupid enough to cut out every letter form Romeo & Juliet –
http://www.samwinston.com/Work/Romeo-Juliet
Again = it’s brilliant to see this way of creating work, working so well – lets hope this is a sign of things to come for the creatives everywhere !
