Posted project update #9Floyd Fest Countdown!!
Post CommentDear Backers,
As you might imagine, the past 6 weeks have been absolutely jam packed with work, finishing the Shack and preparing for Floyd Fest. We got a small taste of serving coffee to a festival during Across the Way's Floyd Fandango - a beer and wine festival held on July 2nd and 3rd. I won't say it ran perfectly (a smoothie machine exploded, sending its ingredients all over the shop, among other minor catastrophes) but it was a great warm-up for the big shindig. Below are some pictures of the finished shop. We are very proud of this building and, of course, we couldn't have done it without your amazing support. For those of you awaiting your shipped rewards, please accept our humblest apologies at their tardiness. Many have been shipped while many are still awaiting some final parts before being sent off. For those of you planning on picking them up onsite, rest assured they will be waiting there for you.
Thanks again for everything. We are SO excited to see you at Floyd Fest X!!!

Posted project update #8Things, they are a'happening.
Post CommentWell folks, these pictures are about 10 days old now, but I'm sitting here in the coffee roaster on a slow Saturday morning and I figured old pictures are better than no pictures. Also, I've uploaded them in reverse chronological order.
In these pictures you'll see the front porch roof system, the common rafters that Mike Stubbs basically lifted into place by himself, and the hip rafters that each had a total of 12 individual cuts before they could be raised (thanks to Joe Klein for the extra pair of eyes on those. As of now, the whole ceiling is complete and we've begun putting on the green metal roof.
Of course we couldn't have done it without the continued volunteer support of folks like Jim Knapp, Zeph Allen, Mike Stubbs, Joe Klein, Mitch Holcomb, Luis Izagera, Mac McCutchan, Jim Newlin, Ezra Brett, Tully Anderson and my dad, Rick Hensley, who took on the rather large project of building the back deck and stairs. Plus Bob "the Builder" Foreman, who has been an invaluable resource for advice and tools.
Rewards update: The t-shirts are printed, the Floyd Fest Logo is finished, and the bags will be printed next week, meaning that we'll have all the rewards ready to mail or be picked up by July 8th.
Also, we've pushed the backer party until after Floyd Fandango (July 2nd & 3rd) and before Floyd Fest, so stay tuned for an exact date.
As you look at the pictures below, remember none of this could have happened without you and your support. Thanks!!

Posted project update #7Progress...
Post CommentHey Backers,
Thanks to some generous volunteer labor from our great friends and family - Jim Knapp, Rick Hensley, Jim Belcher, Zeph Allen, Luis Izagera, plus Paully Straith and Russell Chisholm (who are also backers!!!) we've made some really great progress on the shop in the past week. Check out the pictures below.
For those of you anxiously awaiting your t-shirts & coffee by mail, never fear. We've fallen a little behind but the printing should start by the end of the week.
The clock is definitely ticking on our project - we need to have it finished by July 2nd for the Floyd Fandango Beer & Wine Festival so we can get a trial run on our equipment and flow. That's less than a month away (hence the darkness in the last picture of the day - we are definitely burning the candle at both ends around here.)
Thanks for all the love and support!!

Posted project update #6Logo Art
Post CommentHey Backers,
We just got some really cool work from Emily Williamson, one of the local artists we commission for our bags. Check it out below - We think it is pretty darned awesome. Those of you who pledged $25 or more can look forward to picking up a bag with this exclusive Floyd Fest art printed by hand here in Floyd. (Or, for those of you who donated the special "hey, I'm from far away" amount, it will arrive at your doorstep.) Thanks!!
In other news, we've dug the footer holes for the building and we'll be pouring concrete in them in the next few days. Then we'll put some treated 6" posts in the ground and the framing will begin in earnest. Thanks again everybody. This has already been an amazing ride.
Haden, Rose, & the Red Rooster/BlackWater family.
