Post CommentHi friends,
We're coming down to the final hours of our campaign... thanks for all of your enthusiastic support! For those of you planning to join us for the screening and/or party this Saturday, could you let me know if you're planning to purchase dinner so that we'll have an idea of how much to order. A bountiful, savory meal of authentic Caribbean food will be available for $10. And remember to let friends know that if they'd just like to come to the dance party, tickets for $13 will be available at the door. Tix for the screening & party ($25) can also be purchased at the door.
The dinner & reception starts at 6:30; screening begins at 7:30 followed by a discussion, then the party (starting somewhere around 10pm)
St. Luke's Parish House: 259 Washington Avenue, between DeKalb & Willoughby, in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn.
Thanks! See you all there...
Peace,

Posted project update #5A Lovely Screening Event...
Hello friends,
Thanks to all who came out to make Tuesday such a beautiful evening of intimate sharing. The screening felt so deep and personal - like everyone was taking their own individual journey through the story of the film. Each time I watch the film, it's like I'm seeing it for the first time and discovering new layers and hidden messages. It's funny - I watch the film as if it were made by someone else, because in reality that's how I have experienced it: as something that came through me, not "by" me. Quite humbling, and fills me with a sense of wonder at the great mystery of life and the creative process.
A special thank you to Angie and the folks at Urban Latino Radio who made the evening so smooth and effortless. And to Kenny Ortega, the radio show host who shared such a fun, lively and insightful interview experience with me on Monday. (The podcast of the interview will be available on our website by next week, if you'd like to check it out.) And to all of you busy bee helpers, who set up such a spread of food and drinks, and cleaned it all up at the end before I even had a chance to notice!
Lovely, lovely evening... I'm really looking forward to the big event on July 31st. Please spread the word. We're coming down the homestretch - just a little over two weeks left to raise the rest of the money, or our challenge pledges will be wiped out! And we've got quite a ways to go yet... Oh, yes we can, yes we can!!!
Big, big hugs and love to you all...
Peace,
Cathy

Cat, I'm so glad the screening went well. I was thinking of you. (Unfortunately, I couldn't find urbanlatino on line, so I couldn't listen to your interview. Oh well...)
You mentioned that it feels like the film was made by someone else, and interestingly, that's just how I feel when I read the posts I've put on my blog about teaching. It's like, somehow, I was out of the picture when they were written. It's truly an amazing feeling, as you know. (Do you know that old story -- true, I believe -- about medieval Christian authors who never signed their writing because they believe God did the writing?)
Good luck, Cat.
