Post CommentNo huge news to report for "My Friend Peter." I spent most of January reaching out to angel investors, venture capitalists, puppet people, and the like.
A significant item of note, however, was that I received interest in the project from Nina Conti, a fairly well known British puppeteer who's been in a couple Christopher Guest films. She performs stand-up with a brown monkey puppet, so MFP is kind of perfect for her: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E25ebRjx8w0

Post CommentMY FRIEND PETER updates...
1. On Dec. 26th, 2011, Steve and I shot a short scene from the feature, to grandfather the project under a tax incentive that just expired on Dec. 31st. So production is officially under way!
2. Had our first investor meeting on Dec. 27th. I'm looking to set up more for January and February, and will more or less be spending the entirety of my days calling toy companies, puppet enthusiasts, oil tycoons, and the like.
3. If you know of anyone who might like to take a look at the project, do let me know! I'd give you back 5% of what they invest in the film.

Posted project update #5DVDs went out today!
Hello Kickstarter friends! A few updates on MY FRIEND PETER:
1. I put almost all of the Peter-signed DVDs in the mail today. There are a few that I'll be dropping off personally, but if you requested a DVD as part of a $25+ pledge, you should be receiving it soon.
2. I'll be sending out updates on the project around the 1st of each month, to keep all y'all in the loop. When big news hits (i.e. when we attach that first celebrity), I'll let you know right away!
3. Right now, I'm in the "packaging" phase of pre-production--attaching stars while reaching out to investors. I'll have a business plan ready by the end of the week, so if you know of any investors who might have an interest in film (or puppets), let me know! I'm giving a 5% "finder's fee" to anyone who brings an investor onboard.
4. The Kickstarter $$ that you all so graciously donated has already helped pay for both a line producer to create a budget and an entertainment attorney. I plan to use the remainder for casting...and to get Peter dry-cleaned.
Excited for this adventure, and grateful for everyone's support! :-)

Thank you all so much for your support. :-D I'll be updating the project regularly over the next few weeks and months as various aspects of the film (cast, financing, shooting location, etc.) come into place.
