And now my work is in the "done" column. Well, the uploading of files, at least. There'll be a lot of production work that I'll have to sign off on, and approve some advance editions. Then it's printing, assembling, loading onto a boat, waiting on a boat, having the boat unload in New York, waiting on customs, loading it on a truck, and waiting for the truck to get it to my office. Easy.

Posted project update #32The Decision to go for Awesome
Back in April, O and I knew we had to make a decision. Because of all the other delays tripping us up, we knew that we were going to miss the projected ship date for Scurvy Dogs. We were close, but we weren't done with our initial plans.
I put together a plan that involved less-detailed art for the Booty Challenges. Icons instead of scenes. There were other spots where we could cut-and-paste art. And we could settle for less.
But it just didn't feel right.
We already had all 40 crew cards done, and 8 captains, and 12 different ships. What was another 50 or so pieces of art? Well, the obvious answer was two more months, as some private delays cropped up this past month to slow us down again. In this time, we also found out how much time it takes a boat to get from China to New York, how much time it takes something to clear customs, and how long it takes a truck to go from New York to Maryland.
I'm not trying to jinx it, but in the next 24 hours, we should be finished uploading files to our printer's server. 120 different card designs, an amazing board, about a hundred detailed tokens, and a shiny box. This means that the board game should show up at my office in the middle of August, and be shipped out immediately after that.
And right now, I'm really proud of this decision. For your consideration, I give you a peek at what the board will look like (there's two small edits and a few bits of text to be added):

Same here, I'd rather wait a few more months for a quality product than getting a rushed one earlier.

Wow. That is gorgeous. I'll wait as long as it takes.
(And on the bright side for us - we'll know where we're living by August! :p)

I shouldn't have used the word "set." At this phase of the organization, I was counting by letter (and there's 26 letters in the alphabet). Then I got 100 of each letter, covering the 90 or so we had ordered.

@John and Jess - So very, very soon. We're looking at the final steps being shipping from China, clearing customs, then packing and shipping from my end. @Jason - please send me a message with the request. It's tough to track comments, but your messages are attached to your pledge file.

Posted project update #20Brief but important update
First up, today was huge: the advance copies arrived, and they're gorgeous.
This means that tomorrow, 3,000 more copies of the Monster Alphabet are being shipped to me.
I would like to quickly apologize about getting the time estimates wrong in getting these printed. I've had to learn a lot of new skills, including wiring massive amounts of money to people and taking a book from start to finish. That said, let's do this thing!
What next?
If you haven't yet, please check in to the Kickstarter site and click the link for the survey. This is how I'll be able to get your address to send you your rewards.
Also, if you have already sent in the survey, but have since changed your address, please send me a message through Kickstarter. I will respond to this message with a quick affirmative, which means I've already changed the address in the spreadsheet. If I have not given you an affirmative over a 3-day span, please send me a reminder (as there's a good chance the message can get lost in the shuffle of 1,200 orders).
The deadline for an address change is a moving target. Soon I'm going to be posting shipping schedules - we'll do it by backer reward level. And when your order is being shipped out, I'll send a message through Kickstarter's messages.
And yes, I promise that more photos are coming soon. I'm still a bit worn out from a strange weekend that involved me meeting Chuck Testa, Leeroy Jenkins and the Tron Guy.

I knew I had completed A survey, but this last update made me uncertain if there was yet another to be completed. Once I logged in to Kickstarter and went to this project : http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/12210307/the-monster-alphabet-board-book
I noticed the 'You Selected' indicator on the Pledge/Rewards in the right-column. Below the description of that reward I also see "Survey sent: 01/19/12" with a link to "[my] response".
Hope that helps you @Josh & @Don.

The other way to spot how you've still got a survey out: If you log in to the site, there's a yellow bar underneath the discover/search buttons that says "Reward Survey!" and "Respond now"
