Posted project update #5Artwork!
Post CommentHere are some pages of new artwork for the book. This will give you a good idea how the book will be divided into chapters. Each story will feature one of these title cards. Yes, Batman: The Animated Series made quite an impression on me as a kid.
I do have another page completed, but I wanted to rework a section of it to make the words more readable.
When I'm done with all eight chapter titles, I'll send a survey to the $200 backers to let me know which piece they would like. Please note that the actual artwork may differ from what ends up in the book.

What a way to wrap up the pledge drive! The past few days saw a flurry of pledges, many from overseas! Thank you to all who pledged, who spread the news, who wished me luck. I am overwhelmed by the response, but it has let me know that Oceanverse is something that people want to read and enjoy. And read you shall. Soon.

Posted project update #3Works in Progress
Here are some photos of my progress on the book!My temporary work area is the dining room table. When my three-month old daughter decides to start sleeping through the night, THEN I'll consider moving back upstairs to my art desk. It's too cold upstairs this time of year anyway. Actually, I don't mind. I seem more focused at the table. Less distractions. Here is most of the new art for the book. I believe I have three more chapter titles to sketch. I have to say ignore the hasty pencils. These pieces will fill out considerably when they are inked. I should probably buy a new bottle of ink in preparation...I printed out a mock cover to sketch over so I know what to add/remove/change. As you can see, I still need to write the synopsis. Ugh...

Posted project update #2Press!
Yesterday saw the publication of my story in the local newspaper, the St. Clair Shores Sentinel! Front page, no less!
Just doing my part to spread the word about Kickstarter and how much it can help people fulfill their dreams.
If I'm able to get in some drawing time this weekend, I think I may have some stuff to show off from the book. We'll see. Well, I do have a screen shot of the cover (work in progress). I'm redrawing all the sub stuff in Illustrator to get a much MUCH cleaner line.
Have a good weekend. Go watch some football!

So...what do I say?
I apologize for not posting earlier. I have to say I was caught up and taken aback by the deluge of pledges. I never imagined that I would meet my goal in six days. To that I say thank you so much. I was ready to be on edge for a month and a half, driving my wife crazy checking my total 58 times a day. Now, I can rest a BIT easier.
Thanks to the "Staff Pick" status and frequent appearances on the homepage, 43% of pledges have come from Kickstarter visitors alone. That is totally crazy. Such an X factor is reason alone to suggest Kickstarter to anyone considering an artistic endeavor.
And we are not done yet. I can't stress enough that this is the best way to obtain a copy of the book. I am looking into ways to sell Oceanverse: The Collected Edition in the future, but for now, if you want a book, please make a pledge.
As far as the book, I am looking over the art and sketching the layout. I've also had a few preview prints made of the 11"x17" print. I was considering sending the art out to on online printer, but my wife found a printer nearby and they look great. Fantastic paper, too.
The art table is rearing to go. I'm thinking I can start drawing the new art by next week.
Ok, that's all for now. Again, thank you so much for backing my project. It means the world to me.
