Posted project update #350% in 5 Days??
Post CommentAs I write this we are a mere $14 away from reaching 50% funding in 5 days! I'd say that was pretty good. Now, if we can somehow raise the next 50% in the next 35 days, we'll be in business!
Thank you to everyone who has donated so far! Your help is invaluable to Retrofit. To those of you who follow us on twitter (@retrofitcomics, @boxbrown) I pre-apologize for a non-stop promotion! Thanks also to a ton of people who helped spread the word! You guys rock so hard!

Posted project update #2James Kochalka on his Retrofit book FUNGUS!
Post CommentJames just posted this on his blog:
"I spent much of the last decade or so drawing books for kids. But next book, FUNGUS, is decidedly for grownups. It features two related fungal stories, Rotten Little Cuties and FACEBOOK. Building on my field research of vernal pools (See American Elf, April 17 – 20, 2011) these stories explore the nature of god, friendship, Facebook, cellphones, google, partying, and other seemingly unrelated topics that are all part of the amazing tapestry of life. And although I say they’re for grown-ups I did read what I’ve got so far to my seven-year-old Eli and he thought it was hilarious. Here’s the first page of each story:
I’m in the process of drawing it now, and the book comes out in September, published by Retrofit Comics. I’m really excited to be working on this accelerated schedule. Usually it can take anywhere from 6 months to several years from when I draw a book to when it sees publication. Retrofit is raising money to publish this book (and 16 others!) on Kickstarter. Sign up to receive my book or subscribe to receive a new book by a new cartoonist each month. It’s gonna be great."

Box, How do you know our exact address? Unless I'm mistaken, the kickstarter profile only shows hometown. Did I miss something?

It looks like Retrofit is having a little First Friday thing with Jame Kochalka at Brave New World in Old City. http://www.americanelf.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/Kochalkalypsenewweb.jpg
I feel like I should have found out about this from here... :P
