    A truly international affair

We've discovered two new composers who have works written for violin, guitar and piano trio.

Two works by Paul Richards, Cypriot Structures and, Falling on Lobsters in the Dark (we love the title) will now be included in our concert programmes.

The website of Paul Richards can be found at http://www.paulrichardsmusic.com

Also, to increase the international content of our repertoire, we've added Canadian composer Denis Poliquin's Cinq Phonies as well.

The music of American, Canadian, and Irish composers are now represented in our repertoire.

    Another SoundSCAPE Collaborator!

Unbeknownst to us when we started this project, a faculty member from the 2009 SoundSCAPE festival had already composed a trio for violin, guitar and piano. Brian Hulse, an Associate Professor at the College of William & Mary, has amongst his output a two movement work for this instrumentation called Sunstone. The first movement, full of rhythmic drive and vitality, is balanced by a gentler second movement that explores the sonorities of these three instruments. Although the work has already been recorded, Brian informed us, much to our delight, that the work has never been performed live! So, we’re seeking to give a voice to this great composition.

You can visit Brian’s website (and hear a recording of Sunstone) at http://www.operascore.com
