    California Interviews

Monday was Bill Stout...one of the very few artists to have worked with Will. His insight and genuine affection for the man is deep and heartfelt...

Tuesday was Hef...what can one say? Being a cartoonist from his early life is what enabled Hef to truly recognize great artists. His knowledge and input on the subject was impressive...plus we got to tour the grounds of the Playboy Mansion...not a bad way to spend a Tuesday!

Wednesday - Joe Dante...another student of comics and truly knowledgeable and informative on the importance that Will, Harvey and the whole gang of idiots!

Thursday - Dan Clowes...truly inspired by Will's hard work and attention to detail. He gave a great interview and although he never met the man, expressed a knowledge and affection that touched our hearts.

Friday - Trina Robbins...a great cartooning lady who really gets Will and his legacy...her voice is one of originality and perspective.

Thank you again, Kickstarter supporters! We will complete all the other interviews by July 1 and will hold a spot for Terry Gilliam when he becomes available again...we hope to be editing by August...

    stay tuned!

    California

So thanks to YOU! I'm off to California to complete my interviews. Your gift rewards will start to go out in a few weeks. Honestly, the response was so good that I ran out of books...more are on the way. The DVDs will be the last to go out.

    Will update upon my return...

    never-ending thank yous...

    THANK YOU!!

Thrilled beyond belief how you have all gotten behind this project! A thousand thank-you's. The only bit of rain on this parade is that Hugh Hefner has graciously declined to be interviewed. But we have gotten Trina Robbins onto the list so we have still added to our impressive array of artists telling us about Will.

    more to come...

    thank you.

    Stalled?

While it may seem as though Chicken Fat has stalled at the generous support you have all provided, we can assure you that the behind the scenes work goes on. An interview this week with Ben Katchor. Interviews being scheduled with R. Sikoryak and author Paul Buhle - "Jews and American Comics". Plans for the LA trip are well underway...

Please continue to spread the word of Chicken Fat! While we've met our goal we still need more funds to get into the edit room so we can get you your dvds this year!

Chicken Fat Quote of the Day:

Will Elder was..."one of the funniest people who passed though my life on a personal basis."

    One Month to go!

Chicken Fat, thanks to you, will now include Joe Dante, Daniel Clowes and William Stout for sure. We have been in touch with Hef's people and are patiently waiting for his response. In addition to these instrumental interviews we have also just landed an interview with R. Sikoryak and Ben Katchor!
We are anxious to push this as far as we can so continue to spread the word about this long overdue project! THANX!

    Stay tuned...more to come...

Chicken Fat quote of the day:

"...Will Elder, here's the guy that did the MOLE! You gotta know, THE MOLE! in art school, I mean, people were carrying around that comic book just for THE MOLE!...It was the beginning of that kind of thing that probably was really the launch of underground comix...more than any other story."
