Posted project update #7Printing Covers at Igloo Letterpress
Post CommentToday the good folks at Igloo Letterpress made some test prints of the cover. We found a couple issues that were easily taken care of... aside from that, production on covers will be completed within a week!
We also expect vinyl test pressings in the mail shortly.
It's coming together, and were really excited about it. Here's a short video of the printing process...

Posted project update #6Cover Printing - The Beginning!
Post CommentWe stopped by to visit our friends at Igloo Letterpress and got to see the plate used to print the cover. I can't tell you much about that process... but I think you'll agree that the plate looks pretty cool! Attached is the photo of the plate as well as the cover artwork, so you can compare.
They will print the cover with silver ink (looks more like white) on black paper.
We'll keep you posted... hopefully we'll have some video of the printing process!

Posted project update #5Step One Complete - Lacquers Cut!
Post CommentThe first step of the vinyl manufacturing process is cutting lacquers, one disc for each side of the record. They will eventually be used to create the stampers that are used by the pressing plant to make the records we play on our turntables.
Today we cut lacquers for the Brian Harnetty single at MusiCol Recording in Columbus, Ohio. Here's a short video from the session... John Hull cut the lacquers on his 1940s Scully lathe. This video shows the "test cut", in which he does a short pass to make sure the recording is being transferred properly.
We'll be posting more video of the process in the near future. Thanks everybody for making this record a reality!

Posted project update #3Thank You!
Post CommentHello backers,
Yesterday, we reached our goal of $1200. We are so thankful for your help!
We still have 5 days left in the campaign, and any additional funding will go towards promoting this release and Brian's music. The manufacturing costs are covered, but Scioto Records will still spend money on shipping supplies, postage, advertising and publicity. Please continue to share the link with your friends, on your Facebook wall, your Twitter feed, etc.

Brian's record has been added to May production schedules for vinyl manufacturing and printing. The record will be out in June. Along the way, we'll post updates, and hopefully include video of the process.
Sincerely,
Keith Hanlon
