    Happy new year!

    Hello Kickstarter supporters,

As we await news from festivals as to where Revenge of the Mekons will premiere we continue to fine-tune the film. As soon as I find out I will share the news and, once the film is finished, begin fulfilling the outstanding prizes. These are for those of you who donated at the $25 level (badges/thank you on the website: see mekonsmovie.com and click on THANKS to see your name!), $50 (badges/pre-release DVD/on-screen thank you), $100 (badges/DVD/on-screen thank you/souvenir book), $300 (badges/pre-release DVD/on-screen thank you/souvenir book/two tickets to nearby screening) and beyond. Since most of these reward levels include a DVD I've been waiting until I actually have a DVD to send, which I will bundle along with any other prizes I owe you.

I trust that everyone who requested books, posters and prizes that were donated by others received your items long ago.

Before long, those of you who haven't already provided your mailing address will receive a note requesting to do so from Michelle Nguyen, our post-production intern from Bennington College, who's helping out this semester. Our list is pretty well-organized but let me apologize in advance if you receive more than one request; I don't mean to be a nuisance but just want to ensure I have all your necessary info so I can mail your gifts in a timely manner.

That's about it for now. I'll send news as soon as I have any to share!

    Happy new year!

    Joe

Shaking Through: The Birth of a Song

Hi everyone. A Mekons supporter has a Kickstarter project up that I thought you might be interested in. It's for a cool music documentary series out of Philadelphia called Shaking Through: The Birth of a Song. They do a real nice job and I recommend it. Check it out:

    Project update

I hope you had a happy Thanksgiving.

Here's a quick note to let you all know that, while we're zeroing in on a final edit, I've started submitting Revenge of the Mekons to film festivals, with the hope of premiering in the first quarter of 2012. A number of other deadlines are looming over the next month for festivals across the country, so hopefully it will be showing in a city near you. I'll keep you updated here on news and progress and, once I have a locked and completed final cut, I will send the DVDs and other outstanding prizes to the film's Kickstarter backers. At that time, I'll also start posting some songs and outtakes to fill the gap between festival release and (hopefully) any further release of the film, whether in theaters, DVD, TV or online. Cross you fingers.

Meantime, I encourage those of you who haven't already to "like" the film's Facebook page, where I regularly post Mekons-related news, such as today's blurb on the NPR "Song of the Day" page: http://www.npr.org/2011/11/28/142724619/the-mekons-new-inspiration-in-old-sounds

You can find the Facebook page here: http://www.facebook.com/RevengeoftheMekons?ref=ts

Thanks again for all your support and inquiries as we head into the home stretch.
