Site Guidelines
Kickstarter is a place where people come together to fund and promote projects, and watch them grow; we rely on positive interactions between everyone to facilitate that. To participate, all Kickstarter users must follow our Terms of Use and these simple guidelines. They ensure that Kickstarter is a friendly place where criticism is constructive and passion is celebrated.
Some basics:
- Be courteous and respectful. Don't harass or abuse other members.
- Don't post obscene, hateful, or objectionable content.
- If you don't like a project, don't back it. No need to be critical.
- Don't spam. Spread the word, but don't spam.
- Don't promote projects on other projects' pages. Those comments will be deleted.
- Don't post copyrighted content without permission — only post content that you have the rights to.
Actions that violate these community rules or Kickstarter's Terms of Use may lead to an account or project being suspended or deleted. We'd prefer not to do that, so just be cool, okay? Okay.
Project Guidelines
Kickstarter is a funding tool for creative projects. If you have a project you're interested in posting, you can learn more here. Note that projects that fall outside of our focus will be politely declined, so please read our guidelines carefully.
Projects must be focused on a specific goal and offer backers tangible, reasonably priced rewards. Projects involving donations, personal charity, or general business expenses are not good fits.
Creators must be diligent in managing their project. We encourage creators to imagine the experience that they would want as a backer, and then replicate that for their own project. A good project creator:
- Creates and uploads a pitch video
- Spreads the word through their network, audience, friends, and family
- Keeps backers in the loop with frequent Project Updates
- Engages with the community that develops around their project
- Fulfills rewards in a timely manner
Projects must comply with Amazon Payments' Acceptable Use Policy. Among Amazon's restrictions:
- Loans, investment, and any kind of financial return are forbidden
- Lotteries, raffles, and sweepstakes are not allowed
Finally, projects that don't meet our guidelines or include content that we deem objectionable to our community standards may be hidden from public pages.
