The moment Patrick Liddell’s New Music and Video Art project launched last year I was hooked by his video. A dreamy animated fantasy land set to his piano and woodwind compositions, it had just the right mix of mystery, peacefulness, and strangeness to make me back for the CD/DVD compilation. But as I await the final product, the true joy has come from Patrick’s updates along the way, as he continues to share his progress through a combination of bizarre-o and sometimes hilarious images that he pairs with excerpts of his music. Is this guy rad or what? I love how somewhere among the crazy streets of Chicago an artist I never knew existed is sitting in his room putting together unpredictable sounds and images and sending them our way through cyberspace, all as a kind of ongoing appetizer to the final work we helped support.
