Last spring, Liz Noonan created a Kickstarter project with a very simple premise: pledge $25, send her a piece of old junk you’ve had lying around, and she’d recreate it as a piece of art to send back to you. Her plan was to turn other peoples junk into art; creativity as commerce.
Since then, she’s been detailing each exchange over at her super crafty, very addicting-to-read blog. It’s thrilling to watch as she turns an old sweater into a comfy scarf or a collection of vintage gloves into a lovely wreath. My personal favorite is a collection of travel paraphernalia which she cleverly recreates as a doll house — complete with stained glass windows made from old postcards.

Her careful consideration of detail is charming:
“…I wrote and drew on the wallpaper to enhance the floral vine motif and used some of Stacy’s own words from her note to me. This one reads: ‘It would be so nice for them to have a life of their own.’”
And the completed piece is enchanting!

In another favorite, Liz gives new life to an old sweater by turning it into a blueberry pincushion in a teacup. “What girl doesn’t need a blueberry teacup pincushion made from her very favorite, complete beat old sweater?” she asks. Amen!
