For the last three years, Chicago-based design firm Coudal Partners has been running a Photoshop contest called Layer Tennis, in which two graphic designers compete realtime in back-and-forth design volleys with live commentary by a notable writer or blogger, the entire thing sponsored by Adobe.
Today’s match pitted two designers, the incredibly talented Frank Chimero and Gregory Hubacek, against each other with commentary by The Morning News’ Rosecrans Baldwin.
The difference this month is that they’re both playing for Kickstarter projects they’re supporting — Linotype: The Film and the Braddock Carnegie Library Youth Publications Project — donating money and borrowing inspiration from each.
The results were awesome, a visual feast tying together elements of linotype with literature. Go check it out, and help judge the winner on Twitter.
