Kickstarter Presents: Girl Walk // All Day, The NYC Premiere

Updated: We've added DJs Justin Carter and Eamon Harkin of Mister Saturday Night for post-screening dance party vibes, and Joshua Light Show will provide live visuals to start the evening and close out the night. Shootbooth will capture your dance moves photographically and Fastest Possible Drawings are sketching on-site.

"Love at first sight" is a term that is often overused and rarely ever true, but I'd challenge anyone out there to watch the project video for Girl Walk // All Day and not immediately fall head over heels.

We at Kickstarter are some of Girl Walk's biggest fans – we selected it as our centerpiece and staged a surprise performance by the film's stars for this summer's Kickstarter Film Fest – and we've followed its progress closely and with no shortage of excitement. Which is why we're thrilled to announce Kickstarter is presenting the film's NYC premiere on December 8th at the Brooklyn Masonic Temple

But we're getting ahead of ourselves. Girl Walk // All Day is a high-intensity, feature-length dance film that follows three dancers across New York City’s sidewalks, parks and public spaces, where they turn the city into an evolving stage, spreading the joy of breakin' it down. A nonstop adventure to a soundtrack you won't be able to sit still to, Girl Walk // All Day is the ultimate love letter to New York City. Check out the official trailer for a taste.

Girl Walk invites participation. Girl Walk inspires collaboration. Most of all, Girl Walk makes you want to dance. In that spirit, we're doing away with red carpets, we're getting rid of seats, and we're presenting the premiere on multiple screens in the resonant Brooklyn Masonic Temple. This way we can watch the movie as it is intended: from the dance floor. We dare you not to dance!

More performers to be announced. Entry is free and open to the public. RSVP is required. Click here to join the party: www.kickstarter.com/rsvp.

I saw a cut of this film at the Brooklyn Beta and the crowd was on their feet. I'm impressed by this film in every way. Flashdance + Downtown 81 + mashups — this makes me love New York even more.
