Greg Luzniak had never made a children's book prior to his Kickstarter project for Three Goats Gruff. What he had done was spend countless nights improvising versions of The Three Billy Goats Gruff to his kid as a bedtime story. In Greg's retelling, the three goats became a family — kid goat Gruff, Momma goat Gruff, and big Daddy goat Gruff — and the Billy's became a slightly more fiercesome breed of long-horned mountain goat. It wasn't long after that he was tickled to mark down a quick sketch of the tale:

After playing around a little bit more, Greg realized that he had a bonafide book in the making, and (many, many sketches afterward) he launched his Kickstarter project to self-publish the finished work. Now, 354 backers and a little more than $17,000 later, we would call him a "resounding success." But Greg's project didn't end when the clock hit zero — he's since kept us updated and titillated with stories, photos, and news hot-off-the-literal press.
